I have been heavy all my life. I promised myself I would never weigh 200 lbs. and now here I sit at 300 lbs.
My husband was 440 lbs. in July of 2001 when he had his RNY. At the time of his surgery they had to remove more intestane than they thought they would or planned to. He's had multiple complications. from infections to malabsorbsion. Now he weighs around 200 lbs. and is still alive and off all his diabetes meds and just takes a handful of vitamins.
Even with all his complications I am looking into doing an RNY myself. I have lost 40-50 lbs. at a time but it always comes back with some of it's freinds.
I went to my first information Session at the surgeon's clinic and was confirmed that the RNY is for me. On the 30th of Sept. I go to my PCP to get the letter of recommendation for my ins. to get the ball rolling.
My PCP wants me to try one more "lifestyle" change or diet before he will even consider writing a letter of medical necessity for me. I'll wait and see the dieticien and see what this one is all about.
