I can't believe it's already been a year. I'm in my ideal weight range - still have more to loose. But I am HEALTHY. I've been in a 5K and plan on doing more. I no longer need my diabetes or HP meds. I feel great.
The exception is a hernia - but this was 5th abdominal surgery so something was about to give. I'll be getting that repaired later this year.
Now all my unsupporters have changed their tune - and I'm no longer the fat one.
Loving life.

I can't believe how fast time is flying! I've gotten all my medical authorizations. The hardest part was the nuclear pet scan the cardiologist put me through.
I've told a few more folks about my surgery - some co-workers and my son and his wife. All have been very supportive and I truely appreciate them.
My daughter in law (a nurse) is giving me pointers and encouragement about the injections.
I still have several family members to tell - but I'm just no ready to hear it!!!!!
Through all of this the most difficult part has been dealing with my employers STD. They thought my surgery was 5/6/08 (actually 6/6) and had already completed the paperwork for my next paycheck to be for 80 hrs of Unapproved non-paid time off. Luckily I saw it before it was too late.

Well here I am with 30 days til my surgery. I was amazed that I was approved on the first attempt.
I've talked to my PCP several times since my approval (taking other family members) and he's as excited as I am.
Still not told a lot of people yet - 2 sisters and a couple of friends. My friends are very supportive and encouraging.
There is so many preparations to make. I think I've got work undercontrol. Now I need to focus on my personal life.

Well I've been to the seminars, nutritionalish, and psych evaluation. All went well so far. Everyone has said they think I'm a good candidate. I've got to follow-up with my Dr. tomorrow to see what is next. I'm hoping to have my surgery the first part of Summer
Only 2 people know that I'm considering this. I'm afraid of the critcism - isn't that horrible. I've recently participated in a conversation with my sisters where this topic came up! I was amazed by how negative the comments were! I was going to tell them - but decided to wait.
