11/17/07 - Well this last year has really had it's ups and downs. I found out after many problems with constipation, that I had a pelvic hernia. If I ever wanted to get normal again, I would need to have it repaired so I put in for a tummy tuck and was approved for a panis removal so went ahead and did both at the same time (doctor did the tummy tuck anyway). The tummy tuck was a piece of cake to overcome but the pelvic hernia was terrible. Very stiff stitches get put into your area between the anus and vagina and it was so uncomfortable. Then after I did get over it, I couldn't get my energy level back up and gained 15 pounds. I'm still struggling to get it off but we figured out my thyroid had all but shut down so now that we upped my dose of Armour Thyroid to 120 mg twice a day, I almost feel human and am back to running almost everyday again. Feels so good!
This year I also became trained as a support group leader for our local WLS support group along with Casey (cardiocasey). We have a great group and it is fun getting samples and magazines to share with them. It is very humbling when a new person comes to group to check things out as they start the journey to WLS. It really makes me appreciate how far I've come and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
Well, the holidays are upon us again and so are the struggles with all the goodies! I leave it in God's hands - he will take care of me and give me strength!
12/31/06 - It's been over a year now and I've lost 75 pounds - this has changed my whole life! My liver counts are now close to normal I can now run 6 miles at one time, wear size 8s and keep up with my 2 year old grandson! I'm so busy that I don't take time to update very often but I do try to keep active in a couple forums. I go for my one year checkup on January 5th and I'm excited to see my surgeon again. It hasn't b
been a real smooth ride but I would do it again!
Well, here it is 10/25/06. I had laproscopic RNY on 12/28/2006 and have lost more than 70 pounds. I want to loose 20 more but it gets harder and harder. This surgery has changed my life though, I've gone from a tight size 22 to a nice fitting size 8. It's so much fun to clothes shop now! I'm also running/jogging again after 12 years and have worked up to doing 5 miles at one time. I'm not fast but at least I can do it. I hope you all have as much success with your journeys!
6/3/06 - Wow, I haven't updated for quite a while! I'm 5 months now and down 61 pounds! I feel so great now and have really started to exercise (except for the last 5 days - the stomach bug got me hard :( ). I'm hoping I can get down another 4.5 pounds by my 6 month anniversary!
3/30/06 - Well, I've been home over a week and so far no problems except for drinking some milk that was too high in fat. It sure doesn't take much fat to make me sick. I'm starting to finally get some energy and have been out walking more. Today though, it has snowed all day - heavy wet stuff. But tomorrow it is supposed to be back in the 50s! I love being outside!
3/21/06 - Today I am finally at home in Miles City, Montana, and have been pushing the liquids and the protein today. Trying to revive myself from not eating for so many days and trying to stay hydrated. Today my grandson is 17 months old and what a handful he is. Into everything!
3/18/06 - Here comes the frustration. I haven't been able to keep anything down since about 10 pm last night. This is very frustrating. I called Dr. Snyder and he had me to go the ER. They put me on IVs and gave me some nausia medicine that made me drug sleepy then admited me to the hospital. The doctor was going to do another scope Sunday but couldn't find a nurse to help him so I stayed in the hospital until Monday and they did the scope at 6:30 am. The doctor said there was a staple and stitch causing problems and he removed them and then dilated again. He was 99% sure that it was fixed for good this time. The only thing I can't figure out is why he didn't do that Tuesday when he knew there was a staple problem as he told the generalist that it had popped the dilation balloon. It sure ads up when you have to keep having dilations.
3/17/06 - I'm eating again and my appointment went well. Dr. Snyder said to try Gatorade mixed with water to see if that doesn't help get my energy going. By his scale I've lost 42 pounds.
3/14/06 - Back to Denver today - another Stricture - not fun. This time I'm flying down and staying as my 3 mo appointment is Friday.
3/4/06 - Monday I had to go back to Denver and have an EGD done to take care of a stricture. I feel so much better now. I am actually able to eat all my protein and drink all my liquids no problem. I'm now down 42 1/2 pounds and feeling lots better!
I do have a stricture and am going back to Denver to have it taken care of. I can still drink and eat light things but nothing with much texture. Glad to know what it is though!
2/23/06 - I am at 8 weeks now and have lost 37 1/2 pounds. Here is a picture with my daughter. She received an Award of Excellence at MSU Tuesday. We are very proud of her. I'm hoping to be as skinny as she is soon!
1/28/06: I am now 4 1/2 weeks post-op and have lost a total of 25.5 pounds since I started the liquid 2 day diet before surgery. I have had minimal discomfort and no problems besides a little dumping from not knowing there is sugar in teriyaki sauce!
It is sometimes difficult to get in all the water and protein and now I really have to be careful since they took out the g-tube and I can no longer cheat by squirting it in through that! Yesterday went really well though and I am using my timer on the weekend to remind me to eat and drink!
