Three Weeks Post Op
May 02, 2011
Well, it has been three weeks. At week one, I had lost 14 lbs (Yeah!). In the last two weeks I lost an additional 6... only 2 in the last week. I have been reading about the 3 week stall. So, I will hang in there. I do my measurements on Tuesday. That should give me a better idea of how I am doing. I had have a massive fail yesterday. I bought a Lean Cuisine Four Cheese Pizza, cooked it for lunch, cut it into 8 piece and ate 3 of them. I have since read the blogs and the forums and have determined this was not the best course of action for such a newbie. I really think looking at all the cookbooks and recipes is overwhelming when I am on such a restricted diet. I did buy Laughing Cow Light Cheese and Veggie burgers for a change. I think over the weekend, I had alot of head hunger.... I was home alone. I can't get over how I think about food but when I actually eat it, I just can only eat a small amount. I was happy to find this morning that I hadn't stretched my pouch and could only eat half of my one egg omelette.
For exercise, I have been getting on my NordicTrack Freestrider 35s (this is an eliptical climber). I started out doing ten minutes at a time (usually only 20 minutes a day). Yesterday I did 30 minutes all at one time and today I did 30 again. I am not doing high RPMs at all... slow and steady. I have not been cleared to do any core work yet, so the aerobic is where I will stick for now. I have a bad right knee (no ACL), the machine, so far, is virtually no impact. I have not had any problems with my knee on it. I actually bought the machine to put in my office so I had no excuses to not take 10 minutes a couple of times a day and exercise.
I also got my Wii Balance board hooked up to monitor my weight. Our scale is terrible and the Balance board seems to be consistent. Someday, hopefully, I will not hear the Wii program tell me "That's Obese!" when I weigh in.

8 days Post Op down 14 lbs!
Apr 19, 2011
Had my post op with the doc today. Had a hard time not getting on the scale before I went. I was excited to see that I lost 14 lbs in the first week. I guess I will have to hook up my Wii Balance board to track my progress weekly. Our other scale is kind of flaky. I won't go back to the doctor until July. I do go see the NUT in May though. I found a great tracking tool at "MyfitnessPal.com" It allows me to set my own diet goals AND there is app for my Android that synchs with it. I feel better tracking everything and capturing all the nutritional info (Fat, Protein, Carbs etc). Also the phone app has a barcode reader, so entering food items not already on the database is just a matter of scanning the barcode. Anyway, all in all a good day. I have better energy and better energy and the "head hunger" is so much better.

Tomorrow is my 1 week anniversary!
Apr 17, 2011
This is my first time back on OH since my surgery last week. My biggest challenges so far have been head hunger and keeping up with my supplements / vitamins / calcium. This will get better. I created checklists to track everything. My head hunger seems to be better today. Lots of sugar free popsicles. The diet hot chocolate and Instant Miso Soup have also been helpful. I am trying not to weigh myself or measure myself yet. I did take pre-surgery measurements (OMG) and have my weight from my last doctor's visit. I go back to see the doc on Tuesday. Then I will be calling IN MOTION to set up my "training" schedule (required by my doctor and a GREAT idea). My husband and son are on a 65 mile AT hike this week. This has made it easier for me to establish my schedule AND control the head hunger.

Kind of bummed...
Apr 02, 2011
My doctor's office called yesterday morning and rescheduled my surgery. They had an emergency come up and need my slot for that surgery. Luckily they were able to get me in the following Monday (April 11). Still not that far out but I was all geared up for the 6th. I was able to make the arrangements with work / family for the change in date. So...cross my fingers... that I REALLY get the surgery on the 11th.
