My story begins like everyone elses, been on a million and one diets all to lose and regain again. Then on Dec.17,2002 I lost my best friend My brother Randall we were always close, he never married and still lived with my folks, he had Staple surgery in 1980 he lost enough weight that it changed is out look in life. I have also lost another brother (Virgie) when I was nine and Twin sister when I was two. So that left Randy and me, we would call and see each other al least once a week and we only live about 30 miles apart. Then he need gall-bladder surgery something that was going to be so simple turn out to be one of the worst days of my life,
He had gotten a blood clot to the brain and died four days later. You never know how much impact someone has made in there life until you go to there funeral . Randy was a large man but I never new how large in life he was This man had one of the largest funerals in our area. I was so proud of him, because even though he was a large man it didn't stop him from living.
So two years after his death, and gaining a large amount of weight, I decided I needed to do something, and also when my dr. told me I would be in a wheel chair in less than five years. Dealing with the pain of having fibromyliga and weighing 292 and only 50 years old I decided I needed help with my weight.
My parents were totaly against any type of surgery, and I did understand there feeling (already losing 4 children.) But I needed to do this for me. I decided to play it safe and do the lap-band because it was the least invasive procedure.
Well it's been three years and I haven't had much luck with losing weight. I've had fills and unfills and always bringing up what I ate. So its time for me to move on and do the surgery I wanted to do in the first place. Yes my Mom still doesn't like the Idea but I need to think about myself now.
So I hope to be traveling down a new path of life with the DS.
