I am so excited, we finally have a surgery date.  I have been trying to get this surgery since 2004, at least.  There has always been things that have come up, such as changes in our insurance.  Now we are back with Kaiser Perm, and it is going very smoothly.  I have my pre-op on the 14th of June, and then surgery will be on the 25th.  I have now lost 40 lbs so far and am hoping to at least loose 12 more before surgery.  I hope and pray that everybodies dreams and prayers are answered as mine have been.   Love and God Bless you all

Since my last post I was with united health care, and they refused to help me get the surgery, so in July of this year my employer changed back to Kaiser Permanente, and I am so very happy about that!!   In August I had my 5 week weight management class, and I have been moving rather quickly, now I have to make an appointment  to see the dietician and the LCSW.  I attended the support group last night, and the more I go the more I want this surgery.  I have been trying this since 2004, hopefully this time everything will go okay.   Now on December 3rd,  I will go back to Portland to get my C-pap evaluated. then we will see what happens next.  I hope that everybody is doing good. Keep me in the loop guys.

I went to a doctor to be retested for sleep apnea, so that I could get a recent test, and an updated machine.  I will be going back to the sleep doctor on the 11th of March so that he will tell me what the results are.  I am hoping that some how, some way we can get my insurance to pay for it,  We have United Health Care.  I am hoping that even with exclusions there is a way around it.  Well if u all have any ideas please let me know.

I am writing this to update my journey.  I called the doctor because at this point I am trying toget my insurance to give me a positive referral, my primary doctor said that they sent the letter to the insurance company on December the 3rd, 2007, but when I talked to the insurance company they had not received anything.  I am getting very frustrated with these guys.  Also I had not had a sleep apnea test in about 4 yrs, so I asked my doctor to order another one.  I was hoping that I would have my testing by now, but NO SUCH LUCK!!  lol  Hope that everybody is well.

Well I received a call the other day from Heather at OHSU and was going to set up an appointment for Dec the 7th, but she checked my insurance and it appears that my employer excluded WLS from the policy, which really pisses me off.  So at this point I am not sure what I should do.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well I am so excited, I called my insurance today, and I need to send a predetermination letter, but OHSU said that they would handle that so that put me at ease.  The other day my primary had already ran some blood work so that is one less thing that we need to do.  Now I just wait until they contact me.  

Well I finally had my Dr appointment today to see my primary, and he is sending his referral over to OHSU, and he is also sending me to get some more blood work taken tomorrow so that they will have those tests.   He asked me if I was aware of the types of surgery that they have.  And of course I stated the types and told him that I have been searching this since 2004.  I also told him I did not want to have the lap band surgery because it seemed to be the most unsuccessful, and he said that is very true and not many people know that.   So I will be going to the Info meetin on the 22nd, it seems to be getting nearer,   YEA!!!!!!!!

Hi everybody it has been awhile since I have posted anything so here it goes. Tonight is the info seminar, and my husband and I are going.  He is so remarkable I am so glad that I have him I am so blessed, he supports me in everything that I do.  I called my insurance and they do not cover it, but since I have some health issues, she said to appeal it, which I will when things get closer.  I have an appointment with my primary on the 15th of October, and he said that he will give me a referral to a surgeon then.  I have been researching this for some time, and will be s glad, when I can get a date.  I need to go work out now, so will post again soon.

I noticed on the 27th of September they are having a seminar and hope to be able to go to it.   I have been heavy all my life.  When I was 17 yrs old, I almost made my goal and then after getting married for the first time and having my first child, then I began to climb the scales.  Now on top of the sleep apnea, I am borderline diabetic, and high blood pressure.  I have also noticed that their is not a support group in this area, hopefully their is now or we can get one started soon.  We all need support to begin this journey.
