Hello Friends
My name is Deb. I am married with a son and a daughter. We have
five grandchildren and a fur baby named Maggie. Although Maggie is a yorkie she doesn't know it.
Now just a bit about me. I wasn't always over weight as a young one I was very athletic. Loved sports, loved the competition of it all. I was always training for one sport or another all through my school years so I never in a million years thought I would end up with a weight problem.
In 1990 DH and I bought our own truck and went on the road.
I was 150 lbs when I first starting driving. When I came off the road in 2005 I weighed 280 lbs. I hurt so bad and was so out of shape I didn't think I would ever have a normal life again.
At the end of 2005 after all the diets and fads I went through while on the road and off the road I started researching WLS.
I was approved in Feb. 2006 for the MGB. Two days before surgery the doctors office phoned to tell me I could not have the MGB because I had a nissen wrap. I was devastated to say the least. They put me through hell with all the pre testing knowing from the get go that I had a nissen wrap. Dumbass Doctor!!
All I can say now is Thankyou, Thankyou Dumbass.
So back to the drawing board and it sure didn't look promising. I knew for sure the RNY was not for me but that was the only other WLS I had heard of until I happened onto a full blown WLS war .
( I know my membership says 1/10/08 but I have actually been here since 2/06. I changed my username 1/10/08 so I guess that changed my membership date.) Thank you to all veterans of the DS board for directing me towards the light on the darkside.
I never get much time to be on the boards because of my job. I work 12-14 hrs a day 7 days a wk. When ever possible I check to see what is going on with everyone . Even though I don't post I still laugh and cry with you all.
I started my journey at 5'6'' 280 and lost 145 lbs in 9.5 mths. I'm now at doctors goal and feel brand new.
