I'm in my mid-50's, married with children. Weight at age 16, 291. Weight at age 50, 300. Not much fluctuation, give or take fifty pounds on or off about a hundred times in thirty years. Surgery at age 51, and here I am today, at 170 and feeling so good. The decision to have surgery came when I realized I could not stand at my sink and do a whole sinkful of dishes anymore, without my back hurting and my legs hurting to the point where I had to sit down and rest. At age 50. Not much of a life, I realize now. There was no other answer for me. I had to do something that would make me, literally, sick, if I overate. Gastric bypass surgery saved me from myself. I lived through it, and have come out looking good, feeling good, with no regrets.
