Second Appt Down...
Apr 21, 2010
This morning start off at Physical Therapy. I met Leslie. She was absolutely wonderful. We talked about an exercise plan, she gave me warm-ups to do, talked about MET levels, activity guidelines, and figured out my target heart rate range. Lastly, she had me walk the track for 6 minutes to figure my endruance I believe.
I quickly headed back to the Meadowbrook section of the hospital to meet with Dr. Wiita and go over the results from all my lab work last time. I need to start taking more vitamin D3 so she gave me a perscription for that, I need to take vitamin B6 for a month to get levels back in check, and I need to take an iron supplement with vitamin C chewables to help aborb the iron better. My EKG was just great.
Next appt I met with the psychologoist. We reviewed my MMPI results. Passed so that is great=) She is referring me on for surgery=)
Last appt of the day was with the dietician. We reviewed my food plan, talked about food choices with more protein and other food choices etc.
Overall, it was a great day! Got to the clinic at 8:30 left at 12:00 =))
Now to continue monthly nutrition meetings in Marshall with my family doctor and after 3 more months (after completing 6 consecutive months for insurance requirements) I will call Park Nicollet to schedule surgery consult, and dietician appt.

First appointment down! (April 5, 2010)
Apr 05, 2010
Today was my first day of appointments at Park NIcollet Clinic. I got up around 5 a.m. and was on the road around 5:30 a.m. It took about 3 hours. I was pretty early for my 10 a.m. appt. They were so kind and told me to do lab work (drew 6 viles!) since I was there early, and then I could eat something before my actual appt at 10. I first met with Dorothy, a Baratric Nurrse Clinician to reivew my medical history, answer questions, take a picture, measurements etc. Then was time meet with Dr. Witta, Bariatrician to go over lots of medical history, little physical, questions. Next I went over to the Heart and Vascular Center to have a EKG done. That was super quick. Lastly, I went back to the Meadowbrook clinic for my psychological exam. There were 567 questions on one of them! Yikes.....good thing they were all true and false questions. There was a short 32 question quality of life questionaire to take afterwards and then I was sent to appointments to schedule my second round of them=) They are scheduled for Wednesday, April 21st at 8:30 a.m. I am so thankful they can schedule many appointments in one day. Saves on the driving!

My husband and I traveled to Park Nicollet Clinic in St. Louis Park, MN to attend their Bariatric Surgery Program's Information Session. We met my mom there. It started at 5:30 p.m. and we left a little before 8 p.m. It was nice to hear all the information in one place and to have the opportunity to ask a surgeon questions afterwards. We left home for Marshall and arrived back home around 11 p.m. It was a long day of driving but we were really impressed with Park Nicollet's comprehensive care. What an exciting journey to embark on!
