Mailed in my orientation packet last Thursday 06-09-05. Now we anxiously wait for that phone call! Wifey completed orientation packet 06-15-05! Looks like I'm not going to be alone for this journey!

Wow! Just sent my orientation packet in and guess what?! My surgery consult is scheduled for July 7th at 8am! Called PCP today and had him order a gall bladder ultrasound as requested by the surgeon. 7am June 23rd. That was pretty easy! Looks like the journey is beginning!

Had my consultation today! Everyone from the nurse to the dietitian was excellent. Met Dr Lee one of the fellows and my surgeon Dr. Maher. Everything is now sent in to the insurance company and next call will be for my surgery date!

And on to todays news! Just received phone call from surgeons office, they are ready to send my paperwork off for approval! I told her good, I can start harassing them now lol She said she would prolly hear back with the approval before I would and that she would call me with the good news!

Insurance was submitted on Friday the 15th and today I received a call from the surgeons office. I've been APPROVED!!! Waahhooo! They said that they will call me before the weeks end with my surgery date! Talk about exciting news!

Wahhoo!! Just got off the phone with the surgeons office! Surgery is scheduled for Sept. 7th. Preop is on Aug 23rd!

Welp Preop class and lab work all went well. Do me a favour folks? If you are going for a preop class TWO WEEKS before your surgery, at least have SOME idea of what youre getting yourself into. Do not go to class and ask 'How soon after Surgery can I begin to eat sweets/soda/whatever sugar riddled thing that got you over weight in the first place. This surgery is merely a tool to help you lose weight. The lifestyle changes and diet changes are for LIFE. Ok so much for my rant....13 more days to go!!

Well now, Only five more days til the big ride!! I realized today that this is the last time that I will see these days of the week as a preemie! So, on that note, Good Bye Wednesday! Good Bye Thursday!
Last night I received a package from my Angel, Judy! ! What a surprise! It was jammed full with jello, pudding, drink mixes, a chopper for puree'ng my foods, a pedometer with a radio built in, a readers digest, tic tacs, blistex, and such a wonderful card with encouragement and prayers. Thank you my Angel for all your support! Youve made this trip so much more enjoyable and memorable!

Sept 10th
Came home yesterday and havent felt like even touching a computer so bare with me! The stay in the hospital was fine EXCEPT having to try to pee after the de-cathed me. Had to reinsert the cath first day which made it even more inflammed and swollen. Friday was finally told 'if we need to recath you (they took it out second morning again) then you will have to stay another day' After loading up on tea and water, I got in the hottest shower I could stand and FINALLY let out about 400cc's. Talk about painful men. Free at last, free at last! Hospital staff (the non student nurses) were VERY helpful and knowledgable about WLS.
Sept 19th
Just been recovering and walking walking walking! Playing around with some pureed foods now. My favorite is Brunswick Stew with cheese for added protein. Walking 1.6 miles three times a day but Ive been doing that since about the 12th. Went for follow up on Friday and have lost 23 lbs so far. Not bad for 9 days!

Has it been that long since updating?? Well lets see. Ive lost 123 lbs so far. Not bad for 8 months! My wife had to delay her surgery. She finally decided to proceed on May 18th when she had her preop. They scheduled her for surgery 13 days later! May 31st was her date. Insurance wasnt able to get her processed in time and cancelled it at 501pm night before. So know its a waiting game. Policy changes July 1st so getting in to surgery before then will be interesting.

OMG!! Has it been THAT long since Ive been here to update? Jesus I miss all my friends! Especially my Angel, Judy! Well whats the update you ask?? Three years post op. Down 180 lbs to 165! In fear of being hated by all the women in the chatroom...No loose skin! I hope you like the updated photo. Hopefully someone can remind me where I posted my preop photos so you can see the difference! No complications. LIfe is swell. But yes, its true. Gastric bypass can destroy a marriage. Unless of course you were just 'settling' to begin with. My confidence and self esteem makes me a MUCH better person. No more 'settling' for me! Let me know if you would like to chat about my weight loss experience and how it has changed my life!
