I started to look into Lap Band in 2006 but my insurance was not covering it at the time. I found out in February of 2007 that BCBS started covering the surgery again so I called and made an appointment. I went in March to see Dr. Irgau, who said I would be a great candidate for the surgery. My father went with me as well and he opted for Lap Band surgery too. Had to make appointments to see the Pulmonologist and the Cardiologist. I went to the cardiologist 3 times for all the different tests. I was cleared by both specialists by the middle of April. Christiana requires that you see their nurse practiconer and dietician and take 3 classes that prepare you for life after the surgery. The classes were booked for April and I was unable to attend May because I had a trip scheduled for May 5-12 to Cancun. 
I would have to wait until June to take the classes. The classes were very informative and came and went so quickly! I saw one of the Doctors at Christiana who gave me medical clearance on 6/21/07. 7/05/07 will be my last appointment with Dr Irgau and then the big day is 7/11/07!!!! My father will be having surgery 7/9/07--My Birthday!!!!
