Getting Back to ME!!!
Nov 09, 2010
I am more than 3 years out. Who would have thought...
So before having my RNY I set a goal of 168 lbs, in all honesty I was hoping to get under 200 lbs. and was not sure I could even get to that. But as the pounds started coming off, I eventually realized my goal might become a reality. And in fact I did hit that goal - and kept on going to my post op low of 155!!! YAY ME!!! I was so happy, I could buy clothing at just about any store, and for once I was surprisingly happy with the way they fit my body. I was being more active and outgoing - I even tried to ski for the first time! Which starts my little upward journey...on my 3rd laborious trip down the hill, I was cutoff by a hill-hogging snowboarder, went skis over head, and landed face down in the snow -Um Not So Fun! This little fall turned into 2 knee surgeries and 3 MONTHS ON CRUTCHES!!! Buh Bye physical activity...Hello 5 lbs (and me up to 160 lbs) .After the second month I found out I was pregnant - YAY!!! Except I discovered cravings again - for SWEETS - which up until that point I had managed to stay away from for the most part - a few bites here and there, but totally under control. So by the time my handsome little man was born I was up to 203 lbs - yeah I know... My six week follow up appointment showed me sitting at 183 lbs. - and today (my son will be 10 months old in 4 days) I sit at 185 lbs. OH CRAP!!!!
So Reality Check Time... Time for Getting BACK TO ME ...The Post Op Me - The Me I want to be, and worked so hard to be. So yesterday I went back to basics, protein shakes, eggbeaters and cottage cheese, LOTS OF WATER!!! I went to the gym for the first time in like forever...and it feels great! I know it is going to take time and persistence, but I am hoping I can stay on track and do this for ME and for my son, so he can grow up with a mom who will play with him and not just sit on the sidelines (which was one of my reasons behind having this surgery in the first place!).

1 Month Post Op
Jul 02, 2007
I had lap gastric bypass on June 5, 2007. I went in for my 1 month follow up appointment and since my surgery 27 days ago I have lost 25lbs!!! I am so excited. Next week I can start solid foods, thank god, I am so tired of refried beans and other mush - lol.
We are on out way to beauty-ful North Carolina this weekend. After all that time off of work to recover I need a vacation - haha. The people here probably think I am crazy for taking 3 weeks off after surgery and then going on vacation after only being back to work for 2 weeks, but oh well.
I am so excited that this journey towards a whole new life has begun and so far has been great. I will try to enjoye ride, and look forward to being able to look back on it and say "Hell yeah, it was worth every second".
