Regarding the blog below... I meant 367 lbs, not 267. I only wish I could lose 116 lbs in 9 days! -Jason
Oh the irony....
Mar 01, 2008
Ok.... So when I found out I had my surgery date in early Feb. 2008, I got a little exited and celebrated as I hope everyone hoping for their surgery date would. How did I celebrate??? I ate! I ate pizza, burgers, pastas, steaks, all my favorite foods because I finally had a date and I didn't have to worry anymore! Well......
About a week later, I get on the scale just to see what my weight was since the week before when I was weighed at the doctor's office. I had gained 5 lbs in 5 days!!!! I was shocked and depression hit me a little, because I had tipped the scale at 383, the heaviest I had ever been. Shock turned to anger, and I was angry at myself for getting careless. I decided that I would start a diet on Feb. 21st, and I went to the grocery store and bought healthy food items to snack on and take to work.
I bought the 100 calorie packs, lean meats, lots of veggies, soy milk, special k cereal, egg beaters, etc. A friend of mine minored in nutrition in college, and he helped me with a 1000 calorie per day meal plan. The two days went by easy, but on day 3 and 4 I had monster cravings for fast food, and pizza, and anyting that basically isn't the best foods to eat. I was tired and lacked energy, but some how I stuck it out. By day 5 or 6 the cravings had basically subsided.
I have been on this diet (with no cheating what so ever) for 9 days now. The past few days I have also been full of energy, and I have even been exercising a little. Now here is the Irony....
I get on my scale this morning and I couldn't believe my eyes! The scale showed that I weighed 267 lbs..............???? What? 267? There had to be something wrong with my scale! I actually got off the scale and picked it up and looked at it closely to see if the bottom was broken out of it or if the battery was dying. I got on the scale again, and again I saw 267 lbs!
The point in getting to is that I have never been succesful on a diet, EVER!!! I only started this diet because I didn't want to get carried away with eating before my surgery and gain 15 plus lbs. and get turned down the day of surgery for high cholesterol or something like that!
So, I plan on continuing this diet.... I figured that more I can lose now, the less I have to lose after surgery. Not to mention that it can only help to lose weight before surgery, at least I would think so!
Anyway..... I can't believe how much I have just typed, but for those of you who read this, Im gonna try and write out my meal plan that I have used these past 9 days. Maybe it can help someone lose some lbs. like it did for me. best of luck if you give it a try. -Jason
