Well, I am excited. I have finally hit the 70 lbs weight loss point, and I took my measurements the other day and I have lost a total of 8 1/2 inches in my waist and a whopping 10 inches in my hips!!! That's almost a foot in my hips!! Amazing!! This is the best decision I ever made!! I am so happy I did it. I still have a long way to go, but I am almost halfway to my goal!! Woohoo!!

50 lbs!
Feb 16, 2010
I have finally lost 50 lbs! And all of a sudden I can see a real difference in my looks! The last 8 lbs really made a difference. Tomorrow I will take my measurements and see how many inches I have lost so far! So far it has been pretty easy! I can eat most anything, just small quantities, and I do not feel the least bit deprived! I love it!! Best decision I ever made! People are really starting to marvel at my weight loss!! It's very exciting! For those of you who are early in the process, do not give up hope, I was feeling like my weight loss was too slow, but I talked to a friend who had it done with two friends of hers 8 years ago and she lost slow, they lost fast, they put it back on, she has kept it all off! I won't complain about slow any more! This is definitely just what I needed!!

10 weeks
Jan 14, 2010
Well, I haven't written in a while cause I didn't feel there was much to write about. I'm doing really well as far as I am able to eat most anything now and I feel really well. Apples don't agree with me, but that's okay. The weight loss sure seems slow, I've lost 35 lbs so far. I've started going to the gym and I have worked up to 15 minutes on the elliptical stair stepper!! I am also doing the bike, treadmill and nautilus, not all at the same time!! lol. The amazing thing to me is that I have lost a total of 20.5 inches overall so far!!! 6.5 inches in my waist and 5.5 inches in my hips!! Amazing! That keeps me positive, even though the weight loss is not as fast as I would have liked! I'm really glad I took my measurements prior to the surgery! I'm not allowing myself to get discouraged about the slower than expected weight loss. I know it will all come off eventually! I am down two sizes already, so that's great! Well, just wanted to post an update. I posted pics that were taken today, not a huge difference yet, but still a noticeable one, I think!

7 weeks
Dec 23, 2009
It's been 7 weeks, I have lost a total of 30 lbs and 12 inches over all! 4 inches in my waist, 3 1/2 inches in my hips, woohoo!! And I can pretty much eat normal food now. Some things I have found do not agree with me yet like apples, and watermelon. Just doesn't want to go down right. Tends to come back up! But it is going very well! People are starting to really notice the difference. Someone told me today I was melting away! I am wearing two sizes smaller in pants! I'm glad I had the surgery. I needed something to force me to do what I need to do! And I am down from 8 meds to just 2! Yayy!

Not discouraged anymore
Dec 09, 2009
I have a lot to be thankful for! I have officially gone from 9 medications to just 2!!!! Woohoo! And, I have lost a total of 8 inches overall. I have lost just 22 lbs, but in 5 weeks, that's not bad! I am going to the gym now and working out for 30 minutes 3 to 5 days a week. And I found out I was not eating enough. My body likely thought it was starving and trying to hold onto whatever it could! I am trying to get closer to 1000 calories a day. I was only getting between 400 and 600 until yesterday! Yesterday I managed 800. It feels to me like I am eating too much! lol. That's kind of funny to me! Well, I am feeling good about getting off so many medications! And I know the weight has no choice but to come off at some point! And I know I shouldn't be complaining about 22 lbs in 5 weeks. I just thought it would be a little faster at first. I want to see that big difference in the mirror. I need to be patient, but patience never was one of my virtues! lol.

Officially discouraged
Nov 29, 2009
Okay, I don't get it. I just came from my regular doctor and officially I have not lost a single lb in two weeks. I do not get it. I can barely eat anything, I am probably getting 600 to 800 calories a day and no loss in two weeks??? What is up with that. I could do this well without the surgery. Everyone I know that has had the surgery has lost tremendously in the first two months. I'm trying not to be discouraged but it's not easy. I'll give it another week, I go back to the bariatric doc in a week. I started at the gym yesterday and had a really good workout, so I will keep that up for the next week and see what happens.

Almost 4 weeks
Nov 29, 2009
Tuesday will be four weeks since surgery. I lost 23 lbs in three weeks, but in the last 6 days not a single pound. What is up with that?? I can only assume my body is saying, whoa, what's happening, and rebelling. I am sure a few lbs will drop off all of a sudden in the next day or so but it's like really crazy to get on the scale day after day and not a single lb when I am eating so little! I go to my regular doc tomorrow so I will see what her scale says. Otherwise, I am doing really well. One week from tomorrow the gtube comes out, woohooo!! It's really just an annoyance to deal with now, no pain. I have to measure myself again and see if I have lost inches but no weight, sometimes that happens. I am going to start daily at the gym this week. My best friend goes at least 5 days a week, so I will go with her. It's nice to have someone to go with! That's it for now.

There's a first for everything
Nov 22, 2009
I sat down to eat dinner tonight and made the mistake of watching television while I was eating. I forgot what I was doing and ate too fast, next thing I knew I was in the bathroom throwing up. Now I know what happens when you eat too fast! Lesson learned. 22 lbs now!! Yayy
