Man, its almost crazy to think that 9 months ago I had this life changing surgery!  My goal is to hit the 100 pounds lost by my 32nd birthday which is coming right around the corner.  Just to think that I could have had a baby by now but to realize that I have lost at least a small adult, when it comes to weight loss.  It is sheer craziness to see the change in me and how wonderful I feel. 
Love this RNY and am so glad I chose to have it.

I am almost 6 months into this Gastric Bypass journey of mine.  I am down almost 76 pounds and it is starting to slow down.  I get discouraged but, I shouldnt because I have come a long way in a short amount of time.  This is a journey and it may take time. I need to remember that.  All in all I feel good about what I have accomplished and I am happy with the results and I look forward to the future

Today is my 4 Month Follow Up after my RNY surgery.  I am hoping to be in the 189's and have lost 60 pounds.  I guess will see what happens.  This has been a pretty awesome journey and all the new WOW's that have come my way.

OMG!

I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!! I HAVE FINALLY MADE IT TO ONE-DERLAND!!
I have not seen a one in front of my weight on the scale in YEARS!!!  Is it really happening?  This is amazing, I feel great and I am excited to see the new changes my body is going through.  Just truly amazing!

I have made it 5 days...  I had surgery on Monday September 21st at around 4 pm.  I was really nervous that day and this is how I remember it.  We had to be at the hospital at 1 PM and we waited till they called me back.  They only allowed my husband back with me.  The nurse took my vital signs and my weight.  239 is what the scale read back, which is 11 pounds down from when I started the clear liquid diet.  I was then taken to a room and told to put on a gown.  I gave  a urine sample and then the nurse came in and tried to put in an IV... well she started to put it in my Right forearm and completely missed the vein.  When she went to draw blood she could get any and tried to hook up the IV which then infiltrated my arm and started to bubble up with the IV solution... WICKED bruise then began to form.  She had another nurse attempt one in my Left Hand with success.  I then waited until they came to pick me up for the BIG SHOW...

My orderly picked me up on my gurney chariot and drove me to the OR..  I waited for about a 1/2 hour and then the nurse came to talk to me, followed by the doctor.  He reassured me it was ok to be nervous but everything would be allright.  The anesthesiologist came next, told me what would happen and as soon as he was ready they wheeled me in to the OR..  I remember scooting over to the OR table and the nurse squeezing my hand and that is it................. 2 hours later I awoke in the Recovery room with the nurse telling me I did great.  The surgery lasted about 36 minutes and I did wonderful.  As soon as I was able to talk and look around they wheeled me to my room.  My family was waiting and they were happy to see me as I was them.    I stayed overnight and if I was able to tolerate eating the next day I could go home.

I was able to eat about 1 and 1/2 oz of cream of wheat and I guess that is enough because, I was allowed to leave.  Boy its great to be home....

I have begun the clear liquid diet and am into it about 3 days.  Its getting easier but man, BIG PEOPLE food smells so delish that my brain is telling me that I am S..T..A..R..V..I..N..G..  even though I really am not.  I have 5 more days to go until the big day!  I am getting Excited, but trying to stay calm.  It is getting closer minute by minute.  It just seems like it was just yesterday that I was thinking about having surgery and now I finally am.  I am so excited to become the new ME!

Okay I am extremely upset!  Here it is 11 days away from my big surgery day and today was supposed to be my Pre OP appointment.  I was told because I live 2 hours away that they would call me.  I recieved a letter a month ago explaining that the doctor would call me between the hours of 3-5pm.  I also needed to pay the rest of my "program fee".  I sat and waited by the phone at 3 o'clock..... nothing.  At 4 the phone rang and it was the Weight loss centers recepionists asking for the rest of my program fee and if I had a credit card.  I gave her my info and she said "thanks, i will send you your receipt... blah, blah, blah.  In a few minutes the Doctor will call you back for your Pre Op appointment. "  I said thanks, hung up the phone and preceded to wait.....................................  it is now 5 hours later and still have not recieved a phone call from my surgeon. 

Needless to say I am more than upset.  Of course they can call and collect their money but I am still waiting for my Pre Op phone call.  There is going to be some choice words for their office when I call tomorrow!!

Excitement!!  My surgery has been scheduled for Monday September 21, 2009!
I am so excited to start this new and exciting life that I will have.
YEAHH!!!

On Wednesday (7/22/09), I went to meet with everyone involved in getting me ready for the surgery. I am hoping to have the RNY. I met with the dietician, the psychologist, the doctor and the insurance specialist.  If I pass the psych testing, and the insurance is approaved I can schedule a date for surgery.
Now that it is almost a possibility, I am getting a little bit scared, thinking is this the right decision, am I going to regret it, should I have tried a little harder???  
It will take 2 weeks before I know anything so, I am patiently waiting, trying to ease my nervousness. I just need to realize that I am doing this for me!
