atkins diet/bypass surgery
Jan 27, 2009
Hey everyone!! I have gone to my doctor for the initial appointment and my insurance wants me to be under a doctors care for a diet attempt for at least 6 consecutive months. Sooooooo, in the meantime.. my bypass doc wants me to follow the atkins diet and lose at least 30 lbs ~~~he said 50 would be great~~~ . The reason he said for me to lose that weight would be so he can do the laproscopic surgery. I have had several hernia repairs and he said he doesn't want to have to open me up because i could possibly get another hernia. He also said that if i could lose those pounds, that it would get rid of some of the fat around my belly and would be easier to do the surgery. I have to get the bypass because i have high blood sugar and it would eliminate my problem. My blood sugar is the driving force behind my reason for having this surgery. I have tried everything and nothing has worked for me. I have a 4yr, almost 5yr old son and I want to be able to watch him grow up and see him start a family too.
I will be starting the atkins diet on mon, feb 2. I am concerned and nervous about it but i have had lots fo advice to put signs up all over my house encouraging me to stay on track and not cheat. I don't want to have to start over. This is the last chance for me to get a more normal life and to like who i am for a change.
God bless everyone!!!
