John Angstadt

"My first impression of Dr. Angstadt was that he was a very busy man. He was about 10 minutes late (no biggie as he had just gotten out of surgery). He looks quite a bit like Richard Gere (but with better hair) which took me by suprise also. He is very direct and to the point. He doesn't candy coat things and he has a very strict, but caring team that you have to go through before you get to finally meet him. He is thorough in his explaination of the surgery. I felt that I was in good hands. He has a very strict before and after care program. He addressed all the risks of surgery. The only thing that I didn't like was that the entire time he was talking to me, he had one of those mini-phones clipped to his ear. I kind of felt like I was talking to a very busy vulcan lol. I joked around with one of his staff and said that the next time I come in; I was going to have a mini baby powder clipped to my ear, because changing diapers is my job. Overall I would rate him and his program as a 10. The only true complaint that I had was when I had a stricture and I told one of his office staff about it (I knew it was a stricture) I don't feel that they got me in fast enough to have me dialated. Waiting was dehydrating and miserable (I couldn't even swallow my own salia very well during this time). "

Memorial Health Physicians-Surgical & Bariatric Care

"Everything was great exept for when I was in the recovery room. When I woke up; I was immiediatly in a lot of pain. I asked the nurse who was by my side situating me to please get me something for the pain. She ignored me. I am very aware of my patient rights to pain managment. I told her "look at me" when she looked in my eyes I told her "I am in pain, I want something for pain right now!" She got quite a huffy little attitude and CONTINUED TO IGNORE ME! Another nurse who had watched all of this apparantly got worried. She told the nurse to get me something RIGHT NOW for pain. When I got to the babriatric ward the nurses were FANTASTIC. There was one in particular that had a fantastic attitude. I really get weird on pain medication (I don't sleep at all day or night and I hallucinate) so I think I freaked them out a little bit over the course of my stay. But I did walk an unbelievable amount because they say it helps with circulation etc. The nurses were very supportive of me doing this and cheered me on a bit. I thin overall my stay was very good."
