Nuc Stress Test.

went to the St. Luke Towers (Houston Texas Med Cntr) we got there at 1:20pm, my appt. was at 1:30pm. i could not eat ot drink 4 hours before, or have caffine 12 hours before. 

They took me into a room and i changed into a gown, the only thing i took off as far clothes was my shirt. then they inserted an I.V. into my right hand, injected me with salene solution, i sat in the room around 20 minutes. 

after that they took me into a room and sat me in what looked like a recliener chair. they hooked me up with the things on my chest and a few minutes later i felt something running though my veins, it felt weird they sat next to me and checked my vital signs every minute. 
I think this lasted about 8 minutes, then a guy came in and injected me with the nuc. medication. this lasted i guess 10 minutes or so

once this ended they told me to go and get something to eat and come back in 45 minutes then they would continue. we came back and they placed me on a table and i had to lye still on my stomach while this machine took pics of me for around 20 minutes. 

they told me before everything even started that their would be a possability that i would have to come back for another part, well guess what, i have to come back on Monday Sept. 17th at 8am for more pics of my heart. 

I forgot before i did all this, i had a echo cardio test done, all this consisted of, was taking my shirt off and l laid on a table while a man used what looked like a ultrasound thing on my chest area,  this took around 20 minutes, it was painless.

will update with more on Monday the 17th 2007 one part two is done. 

keeping my fingers crossed for good results.

Well we are moving right along, i wentto my first G.I. doc visit today,and she asked for some medical history on me etc. 
she looked me over and asked why i wanted the RNY done Vs. the LapBand and i told her that i had already had seen two other Dr's and they said i would have my Success doing the RNY ........

she said she was 3 months booked to do the Upper G.I. and then she asked when my prodedure date was, i said well i wont know until i get the test results back from you, i told her, that i was self paying and the only test i needed done was the upper G.I.
I also mentioned that my stress tests are scheduled for this Thursday and to my Surprise, she said she would help us get this test done ASAP 
because she did not want to hold me up getting the RNY done......

The Dr's nurse worked us in on Sept. 27th @ 8 am.........so now we are moving faster and now i am getting more Nervous...........Looks like things are going my way..........will update later this week after i do the Stress Tests

Also today was my first Support Group meeting, was great talking to everyone that had the RNY done, i got lots of info on what to Expect etc.........

we are looking forward to going to the OH  conference in S.A. this weekend (9-14-07 Thru 9-16-07)

Well today was my first of two pre-op tests (Cardio) 
my Dr's visit was at 9:20am, my wife and i got there and talked to the Dr. All he did was check my heart, asked me what meds i was on etc. 

He scheduled me for two things, an Echo test and a Stress Test, these two tests will be done on Sept. 13th 2007 and then a follow up to see him on what the test results are on Sept. 20th

My next visit to see the G.I. Dr. is on Sept. 11th 2007, I will follow up with more info once we get into Sept. 

I'm sure not all tests take this long to have them scheduled, but because my Heatlh Ins. is paying for pre-op- testing and i have an HMO ......well we all know that HMO's don't get in a hurry when it comes to scheduling to see a Specialist for anything. 

Rememeber i am also self paying for the RNY procedure, my health ins. does not cover WLS.

My wife and I went to see my Endocronoligist, i have been seeing him for 3 years now, he already knew what we were going to talk to him about. 
after 30 minutes of talking with him, he suggested the RNY , he agreeded with Dr. Spivak and said if i had the RNY, within 4-6 months my Diabetes would be gone. 
My doc did an EKG. on me and said my heart was fine, he gave me the name of two other doctors that i needed to have the cardio & Gastrology test done. while i was there he had me do some bloodwork to send to Dr. Spivak

My Dr.also mentioned that the Dr.Spivak is a very well known Dr. for doing this Procedure.
We liked Dr. Spivak from the Start, he took the time to talk with us, and his office is in Park Plaza Hospital, his staff is very mature and proffessional.

After we got home we got on the phone and scheduled the appointments for the cardio and gastrologist, of course having and HMO and getting these Dr. appointments for a close date moves very slow. 
But the good thing is my insurance will cover the testing, but the RNY is not covered by my Insurance.............I am self paying for this procedure out of my pocket.

The good thing is, i already have most of funds for this procedure, i applied for a personal loan. 
I will continue to update on the progress, Dr. visits etc.

my wife and I and 2 other friends attended a free lapband semiar today around 1230 pm. 
after listening to this Dr. and the mass confusion of the way his staff wondered around, not to mention his office was in a strip center, Myself and  my wife did not get a warm  fuzzy about this Dr. 
I wont mention this Dr's name, but if you would like to know his name, just email me and i will tell you. I'm sure he is a good Dr. we just felt he wasn't the Dr. for us. 

My two other friends have already scheduled the one on one and one has already had the lapband done by this Dr. on Aug. 10th 2007. my other friend 
is scheduled to have her lapband on Aug. 31st. i tried to talk them out of using this Dr. but they liked him............Guess i was the odd one out this time.

well after talking  my friend who was going to schedule the lapband for Aug. 31st, she has postponed until a future date, she realy don't know when now.

The free seminar with Dr. Spivak and one on one was today at 8:30 am, we were  very impressed with Dr. Spivak and his staff. 
We were very  surprised by what the Dr. told us, he suggested the RNY (gastric bypass) he said i would better success with this procedure. all the research we did was on the lapband, so we did not know what to think after hearing this from the Dr.

my wife and I were very confused on why lapband would work on me, we decided to do research on the RNY and make an appointment with my  Personal Dr. and get his Medical Opinion on what is best for me.

We were invited to this get together by Debra Flores, we had so many questions about the RNY. we met so many wonderful people their who were more than willing to answer any of our questions and many of them sat and talked to us for hours.

My wife and I had so much fun, talking to different people, before we knew it over 5 hours had passed. 
we are looking forward to attending the support group meeting at the end of this month. in Pasadena.
we are so Blessed to have found this group of wonderful people.

We found out my visit with my Gastrologist was moved up to Sept. 11th 2007 at 4pm., instead of the end of Oct.. my wife has been a Blessing taking care of calling the dr's and trying to get my dr's visits moved sooner.

I already have an appt to see the Cardio dr. on Aug. 29th 2007 at 9:15am
looks like things are moving forward, once i see these two docs, they will schedule tests and send results to my perosonal dr. who will then fax them to Dr. Spivak.
