Like almost every overweight person's story, I've struggled for years to try to lose this unwanted cushion surrounding my body.  I've always loved myself and thought of myself as beautiful, but I knew that I was growing more and more unhealthier as I got older.  Already riding the 200lb railway before I had my first son, giving birth to two more children after him insured me that I would never get off this train. Suffering from multiple ailments due to my excessive weight, I'd become frighten that I may become yet another statistic. Another tragic young life lost to obesity related complications such as hypertension (which I have), or worst diabetes which has claimed the life of my mother at the age of 38, my mother-in-law at 50, and has stricken several other friends and family members that I hold dearly.
At 32, I'm approaching the age my mother was when she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but I do not plan on meeting the same fiat as she.  I've decided to take control of my life and really fight back in this war I've been losing for more than 20 years.
With much prayer and a lifestyle change...and not to mention my secret weapon (LAP-BAND), I will be here well beyond my 30's, 40's and 50's.
