3 weeks out

Dec 11, 2006

I am doing great! I am officially 3 weeks post op this morning.  I am down 24 pounds, I have graduated to soft food, I am off my blood thinner, I am on my daily vitamins, and I don't need to go back to the doctor until the 28th. I had all my staples removed on Thursday, boy did they itch, heck I'm still itchy.  Notice there was no B in front of that! LOL!!

Jim and I are getting along great! He has really stepped up to take care of me, and he is a huge cheerleader, who would've thunk it?  I give him a weight loss update and he yells WOOO HOO at me!! It's so cute.  He is a bit depressed over Christmas without Lee-Ann and I know he is going to be bummed out, but I am trying to show him I am still here.  It's just not the same without children, and now we are to old to be the children like we were when we were first married so, we have come to a new phase in our lives. I can say for certain it is cheaper, but not nearly as much fun.

2 weeks out

Dec 04, 2006

Well I am 2 weeks out and I am down 18 pounds since the day of surgery.  I am feeling fine, went shopping did really good until I had to unlaod the cart, bending over makes me hurt. Other then that I am still on blood thinners, and I am running out of veins for them to take the blood from.  I think I am doing great.  On thursday they take out the rest of my staples and I will be staple free. Yeah!!

Home 6 days out!

Nov 24, 2006

Well I came home on Thanksgiving!  Hospital was wonderful except for the lack of sleep there in.  Came home, around 5:15 pm, change into my soft cotton night gown, got a hot cup of tea, said, "Hi"  to my 2 babies (Kiba and Dinky my dogs), went potty a couple more times then as I sat on my couch, I fell asleep.

Woke up around 8 something went to potty, sipped some more (now cold) tea, and fell back to sleep.  Woke up about 11ish went potty, sipped more tea, moved to my recliner, fell back asleep, woke up about 1:30, went potty and went to lie down in my own soft bed. OUCH! ok, laying down in bed that hurts. I was told to lay on my left side so I rolled over, once in position I didn't move unless I had to get up to potty, and then OUCH, back in bed to do all over again.  Long story short, at 6:30 am I roll out of bed and stay up.

I am not feeling well.  I slept to long and didn't get enough water. I am dizzy headed and feel like crap.  So I start pushing fluids in me Sip, sip, sip, sip, by lunch time I am starting to feel a bit better. I have some cream of chicken cup of soup for lunch,  then about an hour later I follow up with 1/4 cup peach applesauce.  Real Food, this has texture. WOW!!! For dinner I decided to go for the gold. I got out a can of cream of chicken soup with real chicken in it. I put it in my food processor to grind up any pieces of chicken, and mix it with milk, heat and eat.  Now this was good!! Finally I think I may survive this upcoming month.

I have learned the following things.
1. Don't oversleep!
2. Take a glass of water with you to bed so when you get up you can  drink to help from the feeling of dehydration in the morning.
3. It's okay to eat real soup and food with some texture not just liquid.
4. That I still have the support I need from my friends, family.
5. Last but not least, the most important thing is I have this website and all the wonderful people I have met to help me though my journey.

God bless OH and Everyone here! You have already made this easier!

Some other things I have learned.
A fart is not always just a fart.
Blood thinners make you have your period even if it's not due.
Incisions will hurt, especially when the are 10 1/2" long.
Showers are wonderful, and extra big towels are the best!
There are way too many food commercials on tv.

On that note, I think it's time to try some protien powder for breakfast.

Tomorrow is the big day I join the losers bench!

Nov 19, 2006

Well tomorrow is the big day I join the losers bench.  Today has been interesting but I found out something important.  I can go a whole day without eating and not be hungry.  I am on a clear liquid diet today, and in all honesty I haven't been hungry all day.  So I will start with my first rule, "I will eat to live, not live to eat anymore!"  Well until I return after the big day.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

1 week to go!

Nov 13, 2006

Well I am counting down the days.  First till I'm off from work, 4 more days of that. Then till surgery 7 more days!  I am looking forward to it.  Everyone keeps asking me if I am scared.  I keep telling them, No.  I haven't even had any second thoughts.  Maybe I am a strange one.  Who knows.

My husband is taking me out Saturday for a last meal so to speak, we're going to Ruby Tuesday's and I am going to have a Peppercorn Mushroon Steak, with a side of broccoli, and heck I am going all out a baked potato!  LOL  I imagine this will be the last steak for 6 or so months.  And the last time we go out to eat for a year or so.  I don't want to go out and waste the food or worse get sick in the restaraunt.

Well I am off to cook supper.  Counting down my days. Rereading all my WLS lifestyles Magazines.  Trying to remember everything that needs done before Sunday.  I may be feeling a bit overwhelmed at times.  I just take a deep breath say calm down there's still time and go on.

Got all my pre-op supplies today.  I'm sick, and tired, and why is sick always followed by tired?  I have a bad sinus infection.  My head hurts.  I have cramps.  And all in all I have been rather B*tchy today. Oh well I just took my meds. I am off to bed.  Hopefully I will get well in time for my surgery. I would hate to have to postpone it due to a sinus infection.
