1 Year Anniversary March 7, 2006
What a difference a year makes! One year ago I was a nervous wreck, going
into the first surgery of my life. And it was a MAJOR surgery! Recovery
was difficult for me. It took about 6 weeks for me to feel somewhat human
again.
I had a few challenges along the way, but who doesn’t? Many times I got
bummed out because no one noticed my loss until it was about 100 pounds. (I
kept my surgery private so no one was looking for changes). Throughout it
all, you have all been here for me. I cannot thank you enough. I remember
being a pre-op reading people’s one year anniversary posts and wondering,
what would it be like if that was me?
It is truly more wonderful than I imagined. I had been morbidly obese for
so long that I didn’t remember what it was like to do normal things. I am
trying hard to really appreciate the new quality of life that I have.
I love that I am healthier. Mind you, I still have all of these incurable
diseases, but overall, I am better, and I am grateful for that. I thank God
daily for this second chance I have been given. I am enjoying life so much
more now that I can live it rather than watch it go by.
As always, I also am thrilled with the quality of eating I have with the
duodenal switch. I never feel like I stand out when I go out to eat in a
group. All of my skinny little friends are clueless, and just assume I am
still eating lower carb. I make a lovely dent in most anything I choose to
eat and never get sick, or dump.
I have posted my 11 month comparison picture in my profile, and will do my 1
year ASAP. My 1 year check up is on 3/20, and my first plastic surgeon
appointment is on 3/21 so I will fill you in on those when they happen.
I know I could go on and on, but you all get the gist of what I am trying to
say. I love my WLS and the support I receive from all of you.

MILESTONE ALERT----------ONEderland!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 2, 2006
Finally!!!!!!!!
So yesterday I drank 4 low carb slim fasts, lots of water, and hopped on my
eliptical machine every chance I got.
It was NOT an easy day! I haven't really "dieted" in a year. It brought
back a lot of emotions that I didn't like! Not to mention how hungry I was
all day YUCK!!!!
I do love my DS, and I don't want to diet anymore! I just HAD to get past
that 201 number!
So this morning, the scale said 198!!!!! I am thrilled beyond imagination!!
I am going to go shopping today! Thank you for all your support yesterday
and also your great ideas. I think I like your ideas better than my slim
fast one...especially the Krispy Kreme one (unfortunatly there are none
within 200 miles of me)...
So, now I am going to adjust my goal, again! 170 is the high end of my goal
range, so I will shoot for that. I can't even imagine! I will post the
picture of the scale eventually LOL.
