Update 2 months post op

Jun 22, 2007

Ok, it's been 2 whole months now and the weight just keeps coming off.  I'm down 51 lbs since surgery, I like that number so I'm just going to keep using the surgery  number.  I still have about 70 lbs to go to hit what they feel is my goal weight.  At this rate, it will be fall, which as we losers know is a great time to buy ALL NEW clothes!!!!
I'm saving my money for that.
My son got an electric car for his birthday so when we go walking he is driving behind me.... I think he's trying to hit me... but we are both enjoying the time out.
The clothes thing is really bothersome.  I went to Penney's the other day to buy some pants.  I got the size I normally wear and the 2 sizes smaller as well.  When I got to the dressing room, I looked at my former pants and said, hell no.... not anymore....
Soooooo I tried on the pants that were 2 sizes smaller... guess what... YUP.. they fit.... but I rationalized that if they fit now they wouldn't in a month or so, so I didn't buy them.  I'm going back this weekend.
My friends say it looks like a pack of people moved into the hiney of my pants and my legs.... day'm they must be getting smaller cause my pants are HUGE around my legs.
Am I complaining... heck no!!!  I"m loving it.
What I don't love is PROTEIN.... How in the world am I supposed to get 70 grams per day.... I'm lucky if I get 50.  But I'm trying.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated...
Also, wouldn't it be nice if we had a calender that would tell us what type of weight loss to expect... that way when we hit a plateau we know there is a brighter day.
I'll write more, but suffice it to say that the 3rd best decision I've made in my life was getting the surgery.  The first was accepting the Lord and the second was adopting my son.

Today I had cottage cheese.... ambrosia.....  Jello is no longer my friend nor is broth... uggghhhhhh....  And please please tell me there will be a better way to get protein.  These shakes are nasty.  I can't seem to find one that I really like.  So if you have suggestions, please share.
First post op visit after a week and down another 16 lbs.  This is great.  Since January with Dr. Adkins and surgery I am done approximately 53 lbs.  THis is good....
I have baggy drawers but don't want to spend alot of money on the interim sizes.... but too soon to buy the one's I intend to wear so... going to be wearing alot of skirts.  Then if it's baggy... it's only longer.
I had my first episode a couple of nights ago.  This was not fun.  They tell you and tell you but until you experience the dire need of help because you can't talk, swallow or really explain what is going on you will never know.
I don't know what I ate or what I didn't chew enough but had to call a friend to talk me out of jumping off the roof.  This was the most frightening experience of my life.  However, with her encouragement I was able to finally calm down enough to take in some warm water.   Don't know if the warm water did the trick, but throwing up did.  Felt like a new person after I was done.  More importantly, I am chewing everything, including my cottage cheese and I am being more accountable with what I am eating.  I can't go through that again.
Friends and co workers are noticing the difference and commenting, they are saying good things.  This is another indicator that I did the right thing.  The biggest will be when my son begins playing soccer this fall and mommie is out on the field with him.  That will be my biggest pay off.
Until next time.....
