This is not the kind of fairy tale where the dashing prince saves the beautiful young maiden. There is a prince, a fine, lion-hearted prince, but it is not he who will have to save the day. His name is Prince Shannon, and he and the princess are actually already married. I know, I know, that is usually where the fairy tale ends, but not here. There is so much more once the vows have been said and the struggles only multiply. This is where our story will begin, but the prince cannot be the one, no matter how brave he might be, to save the day. He will help, of course; however, this fairy tale and the ending it will have relies completely, smack dab on top of the shoulders of the beautiful, currently rotund, princess. That's me. Princess Jamie, and yes, I called myself beautiful. Believe it or not, it has taken years to say that. No mirror on the wall needed to tell me I was not the fairest. I did all of that quite well on my own. That is what makes this fairy tale unique. The wicked, jealous Queen who cunningly tries to sabotage the lovely Princess Jamie is also....you guessed it .....me. Yes. Princess Jamie and the Wicked Queen are the same person. We will call her Queen Stafat. She is the meanest in all the land especially to Princess Jamie. Unless the princess can overcome the queen's vile plans, this fairy tale will not end happily ever after. It will end as it started, unhappily. And thus the fairy tale of Princess Jamie begins.....

This tale begins as all fairy tales do with a once upon a time....

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess named Jamie who lived in a land of Golden Arches, Crowned Kings, and skies with 31 flavors. It was a breathtaking place. It was known as Deluzonville. A place where the princess' throne seemed to flourish and need a little more room every year. At the castle, she was blissfully happy while the Hut and the Inn down the street catered to her every need in 30 minutes or less. Princess Jamie was also married to a handsome prince named Shannon with broad shoulders and strong arms. He could take on any dragon or villian that threatened the palace except for Queen Stafat. Queen Stafat was illusive. She frolicked among the Golden Arches and hid herself from the sight of the prince. She would not hide from the princess though. The Queen called to the princess daily telling her of all the happiness she could find in the ice cream, cookies, and cheeseburgers the Queen wanted to give her. This queen was sly. She knew a poisoned apple would never work, for what princess would want an apple? A triple thick milkshake however could easily hide her plot. So, she brought the princess out to her world and showed her all that the princess could buy for only five gold crowns.

"You can have a double cheeseburger, french fries, and apple pie, a la mode if you want, and the prince will never need to know," she whispered to the princess. "It will be our little secret."

The princess was amazed at all that she could have for so little, so she enjoyed each bite certain that her secret was safe.

Each day as she went home though a tell tale sign began to show, no it was not her nose, but her hips began to grow. First it was just a little, but before she knew it she had to replace her gown with a moo moo.

All the while Prince Shannon continued to love her, but he could see some unknown force was changing his princess. She did not want to stroll in the garden, ride the horses, dance at the Grand Ball, and even her knees ached as she stood up from her throne. He worried that an evil spell had been cast upon her, so he told her he loved her and went off in search of a cure.

He returned with no answers only to find his princess in worse shape than when he left her. She could barely walk up the castle stairs, and she could no longer ride in the carriage. Her eyes were tired and she seemed sad, so he tried desperately to comfort her, but she turned to the Queen and her remedies instead. He pleaded with the princess to walk away from the Queen and called out to the Queen to face him and fight, but she remained hidden in Princess Jamie's head where she had been let in to live. The prince cried out to his love that if she let the Queen win, she would surely be dead. The princess was not sure what to think seeing her courageous prince cry in such a way. The Queen whispered to her, "He does not love you enough. He wants you to be perfect. If he feels that way, for him you do not need. Here, this Fudge Round loves you without condition, so turn to it for comfort instead."

For months, the princess continued to turn from the prince and take comfort from the goodies the Queen offered until one day when she was walking along the courtyard and saw a mirror. Princess Jamie did not recognize the image, and she cried out in pain when she realized it was her own reflection. Angrily she told the Queen, "Get Out!" The queen refused to move. She laughed, "Ha! It is too late!"

"No!" The princess said defiantly, "It is not too late. I will fight you."
