It s cold though. I had hoped I could get my plants I bought into the ground. I am a horrible gardner because I cant move around much, but I like to pretend I can do it. LOL
Its always exciting to see which plants will survive my talent. My garden nickname is black thumb .
The victims this year are Lettuce, Brocolli, Calliflower. I haven't tried to start the seed packs yet (carrots, tomatoes, zuchinni, cucumbers, and several flowers).
I have to do that this week. Before I miss the spring planting season.
I finially found the county extention office website for our town. It has alot of info on when to plant. I think I was doing it at the wrong time before so this might help.
--- I was thinkin this morninig....
Its been 10 years since I have actually had a job in the work I use to do. All these years I have helped hubby manage a few projects, opened a few businesses, closed a few, tried to keep up with my skills but I havent actually been out in the work force like he has.
I would normally be an executive secretary. Last time I went to work I worked through a temp agency, that was about 10 years ago. I worked for a big famous company for a year as the CFOs secretary, they ended up going bankrupt (thats why they had me as temp worker for CFO )
I was 180 at that time, and just had my second baby.
I remember all the comments and whispers I got from others in the company.
The lady that was there before me as the CFOs assistant wasn't as big or as young as me and the other executive assistants were young and thin.
Someone there even asked me when my baby was due...I played it off and told them ...well I JUST had my baby, and now am trying to get back into shape. How embarassing...for both of us.
The experience there really scared me off of office work.
Some how being in close contact with people I would see everyday was just not what I was comfortable with at that time. NOW well I would probably just have a nasty thought about how shallow they were instead of it acutally hurting me.
Knowing that I had to get over the stigma of being overweight and looked at as a Fat Person (even though I was good at my job) was not attractive to me, especially while I was so young.
Back then the internet was just getting started up and there were not very many places for specific support groups...Thats why I'm so happy about being here! Just knowing how other people deal with their everyday life and challenges during weightloss has been wonderful!
Anyway....
I will continue to dream today garden and all!!

My head has been slow to wake up today. Cool weather and rain, combo for lazy day.
I read a few of the responses to my posts. Its so nice to be able to have others to bounce things off of. Thank ful to those who are here and have been through this and are going through this.
I love informative medical reseach and publications-Im a Biology student so its in my blood somewhere :)
I am starting a list of medical things , and other websites I find with regards to gastric bypas and some of the good things and problems that might occur.
I will just keep a running list of those things probably on this post, Im not sure how to do it other wise (yet) if there is another way to add on favorite places.
So here is the first one-
Its about thiamine deficiency--and what it presents as: in this case Polynureopathy
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1681565
excerpt:
It is important to distinguish thiamine from B12 deficiency which may also occur in gastric bypass patients. The neurologic picture for B12 deficiency may also consist of dementia, irritability, and memory loss. For the extremities, typically the dorsal (posterior) and lateral spinal columns are affected, leading to symmetrical paresthesias and ataxia associated with loss of vibration and position sense in the lower extremities.
going to have a nice Day :)

I havnt been on the scale in a while, I try not to look at it to much. Today I was curious though. I was feeling a bit on the heavier side so I decided to check out what was going on. Im at 263.
My starting weight with phentermine was at the beginning of December at 269 pounds.
I was at 250 the last time I check one month ago, I had lost around 20lbs
Its been 4 weeks that I have been off of phentermine. I was on it for two months then it started making me sick again, so I came off of it.
So the pounds came back with some vengance, total gained back is 13 pounds.
I dont want to gain anything else back, I feel like im drowning. I had a little breather then here comes the rush of weight back on!
I have a dr appointment tomorrow with my regular dr. Im going to tell her about my going to Vanderbilt to see their weightloss clinic.
I feel lucky that Vanderbilt is so close to us, its about 35 min away, but I need a local dr also that I can work with so Im going to see if she will still take me if I have the surgery.
I called this morning about getting the psych exam before my first consultation appointment. I know thats part of their program so I need to go ahead and have it.
I had to leave a message.
Its getting kind of annoying. Everytime I call Vanderbilt I get a message machine. Its kind of a wait and see when they can get to me.
Im kind of getting worried about them being able to respond to me if I have any kind of problems after surgery.
Anyway I left the message and I will see how long it takes for them to get call me. Its been 1 1/2 so far.
Speak of the devil..... the phone is ringing
YEahh!! It was them.
OK so now I have our psych appointments set up for the end of next month...thats Good because our 1st consult is in May....
This feels so much like managing a project!!
LOL
Mark that one off my list---
Attended Seminar- March 11th
Regualr dr visit in town March
Psych exams-- end of April
First Consultations with DR
May for both of us
Progress...feels nice!!

Had an weekend == jason was sick took care of him all weekend. His blood sugar was 465. I forget how many shots he took and how many times I took his blood. I think he caught a cold or something that was throwing his sugar out of whack. I will be so happy for him when he doesnt have to worry about things like this anymore.
Iv been reasearching all the protien sources available and sort of what the diet post op would look like. On a post somewhere here I found Bariatrix is a company that makes koolaid like drinks.. I want to try some while we are waiting.
Im starting to wonder about the surgury and exactly how it works with the diet.
It seems like from posts Iv read, everyone is on basicaly the ATKINS diet.
I should post a question and see if others think thats what it is and what might be different about the surgury and just being on ATKINs.
Im going through Vanderbilt Weightloss clinic--it a center of excellence-
not sure what that means ===but sounded good==insurance said that they had to meet certain requirements in order to be listed as excellent, so it sounds like a good place to be.
This is a running list of things to do for the Vanderbilt program:
Chek list of things to do:
1. attend seminar--x
2. choose a dr and make appointment for first consultation==x
appointmet made for May 8th
3. Get medical records together
a. schedule appt with regular dr--to continue weightloss documentation=x
appt made for March 19th--plan to tell her Im going to Vandy
and having consult for bariatric
b. get documents from Drs Diet program showing --diet documenttion for the past year== in progress
called them and they said my clinic will send all documentation to n ashville office- then i pay 25 dollar fee for the copies. They said they would fax
4. Make additional appointments required by Vanderbilt program:
A. find out what pysicians they use and check with insurance on them
1.Psy evaluation
2. Nutritional consult 3 post op visits---3 preop visits
3. EKG
SO FAR THIS IS EVERYTHING I NEED TO DO...I WILL ADD MORE WHEN AND IF I FIND OUT MORE IS NEEDED.
Right now just anxious for my regular drs appointment...and the May 8th consult.
I need to find out if Vandy wants me to switch to their program drs for my regular dr visits post op.
that s all im thinking of to day.
:) its beutiful out side..im going to enjoy the sunshine!
