Over 100lbs later

Oct 20, 2008

Well, here I am 106lbs later!  I feel so much better.  I also have Psuedo Tumor Cerebri but these days I barely remember all the awful headaches and drugs I was on.  I can tell you there is skin... hanging skin everywhere that I wish I could just chop off but it'll happen when the time is right.  At 8 mths out it seems that things are too easy to eat from time to time but I try my best to stick to proteins and fluids first.  This helps tremedously.  The holidays are coming (which in my Southern family means bring on the grub).  Thank God for my new tool!  My husband Mike is much better he went from 460 to 240~ that's a loss of 220lbs.  He's a completely different person.  All this weight loss sure does build your confidence and enters a marriage into new territory.  However, God has a plan and I'll hang with whatever God gives me.  I've been going to Vegas every year for about 5 years.  This year was by far the best!  I could walk without my feet swelling and being out of breath.  I happily dressed up and played slots to my heart's content.  Now if I  could only get my boobs up high where they belong:-)  Good Luck to all of you going through this journey.

Turning 30 Changed my life

Jun 16, 2008

On August 10th, 2007 I turned 30!
Boy did it and all the events that followed change my life.  I watched my hero and grandfather die of melanoma pretty rapidly.  I watched as he went through chemo, big surgeries and multiple hospital stays and his only real complaint was all the finger sticks the nurses woke him up to do while he was in the hospital.  The day of his death coupled with the fact that EVERYONE else in my family also has diabetes drove me to the decision that it is time to make radical changes in my life.  My husband and I both decided we want to live and enjoy our children.  We made an appmt and 2 weeks later on 1/29/08 my husband had his surgery.  Then on February 12, 2008 I had mine!!!

My husband Michael has since had 4 surgeries, 7 hospital stays and 8 or 9 EGD's with dilation.  He has had a helleva time!  It has been 5 months and he is now down 158 lbs!  Would he do it over again?  His response "I was on a path to dying one way or another".

As for me things have been wonderful!  I have lost 72lbs in 4 months.  I have lost tons of hair but whacked it off and that has helped.  I also don't remember them mentioning constipation in the seminars;-)  Aside from that I fee nothing but better.  I am not embarassed around my kids school anymore of being the youngest but fattest mom there!  I actually look forward to shopping with others rather than hiding my size or holding my hanger inside the clothes so people wouldn't see what size I wore until checkout.

I have also made goals, gotten closer to my boys (Dustin 13 & Brandon 10) , bought a new house and new job.

I miss my Gpa more than words can describe but the day he died he gave me new life!!!  Good Luck to all of you in whatever weight loss phase you are in.....
