Challanges

Jul 17, 2011

Well this weekend we had a family outing, and I knew with me being on my diet it was going to be H-E-double L! But I think I did pretty good. I drank ALOT of water, and stayed off the sodas! Yay me, that is my hardest thing to do, and for once I feel like sodas no longer have a hold on me, and I am wanting more water!!! We went to the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and walked for awhile there before we had dinner. Dinner was intersting, lol. I had a salad, and a lean steak with nooothing else...sigh....how I miss carbs, lol. We went back to our hotel that overlooked the riverwalk, and the smell of all the food from all the different places was horrible. I couldnt even stand to be out on the balcony with my  kids. I just kept drinking my water. Later that night the kids went for ice cream and I had a sf fruit bar, go me! The next day I knew was going to be harder, and boy was it. We were going to Six Flags for the day, and I knew that food there was not that healthy. SO for breakfast we went to cracker barrel. I had eggs, and orange juice. Figured some protein and juice was good enough. We had a blast at the park. Omg that was alot of walking and standing! Lunch was a challenge, they didnt have ANYTHING there that was anywhere near what I could eat....so I improvised! Kids got nachos, and I had the fajita meat put on the side, so I could have the protein! Not the best meal, but they wont let you bring in any of your own food there. The rest of the day we were swimming and swimming and having soo much fun that we didnt stop to eat again until it was time to go home. So all in all I think it was an ok day and an excellent weekend. My surgery is in 10 days now, and im getting super super excited! I work the next three night shifts then im off for 3 days, and 3 day shifts on and thats it until my doc lets me go back to work. I want to talk to my boss on monday and see if she will let me have off the daybefore also so that I can spend some time with my kids the night before. I go for my preop appt this friday. Things are being checked off my list of to-do's so quickly and its amazing! Can I go to sleep tonight and wake up on the morning of my surgery? lol, well a girl can wish cant she :). Guess im hanging in and biding my time. Come on July 27th! Oh, and I actually got my hard copy of my approval letter from the insurance company in the mail on saturday! That felt good to have it in hand! Well, till next time.......

Getting Started

Jul 14, 2011

I started my pre-op diet on the 13th of this month in prep for my wonderful day on the 27th! It is a little difficult at first to get used to, but I think im adjusting ok. I made a dozen or so copies of the diet plan im on and have posted them everywhere, and take them everywhere I go. That ways I always have a copy, and know what I can and can't have, and dont have any excuses. Its been ok so far, but considering I work at a hospital the food there is already prepared in a better fashion that anywhere else so it helps. I am still learning how to portion control, and make sure im not getting too many carbs, but all in all I feel better. Its a little hard for me now because im menstrating and want something sweet so bad, lol. I actually took a bite of something sweet and spit it out and was crying, lol. I felt bad for even attempting to eat it. I know better, and I want better for myself. I hope things get better from here on out. I tried a new protein shake today and LOVED IT! OMG, that I never thought was going to be possible is, lol. I have tried many protein drinks, and powders, and they are all gag worthy, but I actually liked this one. I guess it also helped that I didnt smell it this time before I drank it, haha! I hope the days get easier and the time goes quicker, lol.
