6 months out
Apr 25, 2010
Well, I am 6 months out and pretty much still on the same plateau according to the scale. Although it is discouraging that I haven't lost a lot of weight in the past few months, I have still lost. Also, I see changes in my body and I know I am more fit, regardless of what the scale says. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16. My energy level is MUCH higher. I have been consistent with my exercise routine and that has helped me both physically and mentally. I still have my good and bad days with my diet, but my portions are always small now that I have restriction and I am diligent about taking in at least 64 oz. of fluids each day. Most days I also consume my recommended amount of protein. My problem always has been and still is my sweet tooth but I do feel much more control over that and I don't (and can't ) compulsively overeat anymore. I would definitely do this again if I could go back I wouldn't change a thing. Next to quitting smoking 6 years ago the Lap Band is the greatest gift I've ever given myself.

Update - 4 months
Feb 19, 2010
I haven't been to this site in ages! I feel like I've kind of hit a plateau. I have lost 48 pounds since surgery, which I am very pleased about, but I am 8 lbs. away from Onederland and I'm stuck! I am going in for my 3rd fill on next Wed., Feb. 24th. I'm hoping that will do it. I do have restriction but it seems that when I first get filled I'm very very tight but by about a week or so later I am not as tight. I'm hoping I will hit my sweet spot this time. When did you hit yours?

Bandster Hell
Nov 18, 2009
So I had my second post-op check up and lost 4 more lbs. but I have been hungry lately. I asked my doctor to fill me before 6 weeks but they don't do it because it takes 6 weeks to heal. They said it's called "Bandster Hell". It could be worse. When I am feeling hungry I just remind myself how worth it it's going to be when I reach my goal weight.

I did it!

I had my Lap Band surgery on Oct. 23rd. The first 2 days were kind of rough but I have felt better and better each day since. At my post-op appointment 9 days after surgery I had already lost 14 lbs. I know I am healing nicely because I am hungry at times already and looking forward to getting my first fill in about 3 or 4 more weeks. I am doing well on the puree stage and eating things like eggs, tuna salad, cottage cheese, refried beans, pea soup, mashed sweet potato and butternut squash. I definitely see that the higher the protein the longer I feel full. Tuna keeps me full the longest and is loaded with protein - 14 grams per ounce. My second post-op appointment is on Nov. 16th. I am eager to see what progress I've made by that time.
