TO JENNY MCCALEB: Tried doing this the email route three times and it didn't work -- hope you're reading the message board.
Hi Jenny, Welcome to the 'other side'.
I also don't drink the protien shakes anymore. I haven't since about the first two weeks out. YUCK! Anyway some suggestions for eating.... I can get real tired of the same old stuff too! The one thing I can't do is breads....pancakes... or waffles..... OUCH. Eggs don't agree with me anymore either. Here's mostly what I have, aside from the occaisional tastes and testing when out or at someones home....
Cottage Cheese
Wheat thin crackers-- I love these with Salmon spread, cheese & sausage, or cream cheese.
Cooked rice with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Any and all soups!
Sipping on hot chicken broth
Pizza -- tiny bites and chew really well (mostly because of the crust-- thin crust only for me)
Granola bars -- the crunchy ones -- not the nutrigrain types.....
Canned fruits -- sometimes stirred into cool whip
String cheese
Yogurt -- sometimes with granola cereal stirred in -- YUM
Spaghetti with meat sauce -- small amount
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Cooked (steamed, or mashed) sweet potatoes with butter -- YUMMMMM
Mostly though -- I'm eating the wheat thins with either summer sausage and cheese, or salmon spread. That's my lunch most days. I usually don't eat breakfast, unless its a granola bar. Cereal and milk doesnt' go well for me hardly ever.
I've found though that when I can't find what I'm 'looking for' I munch on sunflower seeds (out of the shell). I fill my upper lip and then chew on each seed one at a time.... It's crunchy, salty, -- I'm chewing for a long time and seems to lesson my desire for anything else. These are a staple for me-- I carry them everywhere. And it's protien too!!
I hope this helps a little. You didn't say what you've been eating..... Let me know if any of these help you at all. And thanks for responding to my message! Have a happy New year and continued weight loss.
