Trident Regional Medical Center

"I have to say that I was overall, very impressed with the staff and the care I received. The hospital conditions was something I worried most about, but it was out of my control, so I left it all up to the Good Lord. I was ultra impressed with the gentleman who handled my anesthesia in the actual operating room. He was very kind and gentle. I began to cry shortly after I moved onto the table and he gentle carressed my face and spoke to me very softly and positively. I woke up in recovery with no problem and went into ICU where I had the most AWESOME group of nurses anyone could have asked for! Kathy, and I really wish I knew her last name, was such a tool in me getting up and going on the road to healing. Once up on the regular floor, I can't say I was happy to not have gotten a private room, but beggars can't be choosers. The staff on the regular unit were very good. I can't say that were as quick to respond as the ICU gals, but I also understood that I was only one of several patients, so the little waiting I did didn't bother me. I also was very pleased with the fact that I was given a bariatric bed. I think Dr. Sabback perscribes them for patients like me who are very large in stature. It helped alot that the bed was capable of moving from a laying flat position to a somewhat upright sitting postion with just the touch of a few buttons. The only few negative comments I have is that I don't believe the bathroom was very sanitary. One of the nurses told me that they only get cleaned when a patient checks out. I requested that my bathroom get cleaned, but it never happened. So, word to the wise--especially if you get a semi-private room--buy some of the Clorox wipes to take with you so you can swipe the seat and everything else for that matter! The other item I have a negative comment about is the fact that the staff on the regular unit did not know how to work the bariatric bed I was in. In addition to the positioning, it also was basically a giant air mattress that could be inflated or deflated to your comfort. NO ONE on the regular floor knew how to work that part of the bed! Thank goodness for my fiance, he figured everything out enough to get things just the way I liked it and to adjust as I needed."

"03/01/02 You know, I just have to say that I really think Dr. Sabback is a great guy! I had a huge list of questions and sat down and talked with him yesterday and went over all my concerns. He is a very polite, kind hearted man and I have all the faith in the world that I'm not going to have any problems with the surgery. His staff is also very polite and accomodating. The only one thing I would gripe about is that I really think that they need to get a scale that goes larger than 350. But other than that, I think the whole office staff ROCKS! ****12/01**** I am now proceeding with insurance approvals and testing with Dr. Sabback. I feel quite confident that he can do the job well! I especially liked the fact that I met him at a one on one appointment as opposed to the big 30 person group setting. It made me feel like he would be a little more in tune to my personal needs as his patient. His office staff seem very helpful. I hope that they will be aggressive with my insurance group while in the process of getting approvals."
