Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! You’ve been out of surgery now for a little over a month – YIPPIE!!! Your journey will have moments to “pause” – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)…Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly and take lots of pictures…the transformations will make your jaw drop!!! RNY 10/31/03 – down 89 pounds!!! Good luck!

10 days post op and I feel great. The surgery itself went fine. Dr. Capella gave me great pain meds so the entire time I was in the hospital I felt great. I was up and walking within hours of the surgery. The more I walked the better I felt. The hospital staff couldn't have treated me better there were wonderful. When I came home I had some minor problems. I had a severe allergic reaction to the Tylenol with codiene I was taking for pain. I didn't need it after two days but I broke out in a severe rash over my entire body that just kept getting worse day after day. I called the surgeon and their response is Benedryl but I don't think they are capable of handling something like this. So by the 5th day I was turning purple so I went to my Primary Doctor and after getting a shot of steroids I was on my way back to normal. The worst part of it for me was the liquid diet for the first 5 days. You really don't eat for over 7 days and I found it draining on me as it went on. I made it through and once I started the pureed diet this past Saturday I feel like a new person. I really have a lot of energy. I am so happy that everything went as well as it did.

Thank you all so much for your kind words of encouragement and all your prayers. I feel truly blessed and will carry your positive thoughts with me. It is the eve before surgery and so many of you have offered me your blessings and I am very glad I checked in before the morning. I feel very good about this, the nerves are gone and I feel at peace with my decision. I am sure when I reach the "other side" I will need your support and have a zillion questions. Thanks for everything to everyone of you.

They have changed my surgery date. They only moved it back a week but it is frustrating. It takes a lot of planning to be away from the office for 3 weeks and once you have the plans in place to switch them. Hopefully I can do this without to much hassle.
