Well, where do I begin?? Lets begin with after my hysterecomy back in 04. After this, is where the weight began coming and coming. I did NOTHING to stop it though. I ate and ate and ate. My husband wondered where I put it all. My life revolved completely around food. On the way home from a tough day of teaching in an inner city school, I would make sure I took the route home where the "Whippy Dip" was just to get a huge ice cream cone. I knew if I went the other way home, I would pass by a Dairy Queen and could have whatever my heart so desired. Then, if I played my cards right, I could talk my husband into going out out dinner at my favorite pub. My life consisted of work, food, home, food, kids, food, etc..food. My blood pressure was sky-rocketing at a whopping 189/100 at times!! Then, at work on day as I was helping some children take a test, my words were no longer coming out of my mouth. I thought this was a stroke. The nurse and principal came running to my assistance. To make a long story short- it was a panic attack and my blood pressure was even higher than before! My insulin levels were beginning to rise. I was also diagnosed with a thyroid disease. Acid reflux soon began after that. I was FALLING APART physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. I couldn't do my job at work to my best effort, couldn't take care of a home, family or myself. I hated myself and was very depressed.
Finally, the day of surgery came!! June 9th of this year. I was frightened but so relieved. Dr. Ali here in Erie, PA was just awesome. So comforting and professional that I knew I was in good hands. That evening I was sore- no- excruiting pain is a better word.
No pain medicine was helping me. But as the days went on, I got better.
So far, as of this writing, I am down 30 pounds, my blood pressure is a wonderful 110/68 and I can see my ankles for the first time in quite a while. My four children say that I am much more relaxed and I yell alot less. My husband is liking my new body.
If any of you are reading this and are thinking of having LapBand as I did, DO IT!!! It is the best thing in the world to do for YOU!
