Hi! I have been overweight all my life, but since graduating college it has been a gradual upward swing with a few downswings of weight loss (30-40 lbs at a time). I have tried over the last 2 years to lose weight on my own by focusing on portion control, better food choices and exercise. I even hired a trainer for the last 2 years. But I haven't been able to lose anything. Over the last 2 years I have had more and more health issues. I was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, and I have back and ankle issues. I have managed to stay off the diabetes medications with the diet and exercise but the only thing that will really make a difference is to lose the weight. I currently weigh 355 (at the 1st weigh-in at surgeon's office). I had my first consultation on 9/24/09. I have been thinking about surgery and researching it for the last year and have finally made the decision to move forward. I just need to decide on which surgery. I have done all the testing except for the psych eval which I am doing this Sat 10/3. I came here to find some support and get inspiration from everyone! I am sure this is the right decision for me but I am very nervous about surgery and everything!
