I have not been overwieght my whole life, but after the passing of my father in 2001 ( I was 16) I gradually just kept gaining weight.
I went from 151 in 2004 to 280 today. I'm 5'3".
I had Lap-Band surgery in 2006, but unfortunatly my band did not work for me, it "malfunctioned" and caused me to vomit frequently (even with no fill) and gave me SEVERE spuratic abdominal cramps. I never attributed all the pain to my band- but after an exploratory surgery and several different doctors, we finally determined that's what it was.
Now I am just waiting to get my date for RNY. My insurance doesn't require anything special for pre-op except the usual clearances and a letter explaining what went wrong with my band. I have completed all the doctor appointments (medical clearance, psych eval, sleep study) and have my 4 hour pre-op seminar this week. I CAN'T WAIT!
I'm very nervous for all of the lifestyle changes- because obviously my drug of choice is food- but I am ready to move on and become a healthier THINNER person again!
