Hello everyone, I am Cindy, 55 yrs old and weighing currently 296 pounds. The heaviest I ever got (that I know of) is 307 lbs. I have not been heavy all my life, as a matter of fact, I was always on the skinny side until about 16 years ago. I quit smoking and changed jobs to a more 'sit at the computer' type of job and immediately started gaining weight. I developed arthritis and couldn't do the things I used to do anymore and gained more weight. I love food, I must admit.
I had an appointment on 8/29/07 with the surgeon and he has my surgery (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) scheduled for October 11, 2007. Yahooooo!My PCP thinks it's a great idea and is backing me 100%. My insurance won't pay, so I have to pay cash price for this, but to me it's worth it.
I am hoping for grandchildren in the near future and want to be able to play with them and not have to say, no grandma can't walk or grandma can't play ball, etc. Currently, I can't stand up very long because of back pain, or walk very far for the same reason. I am miserable and I want to feel better.
