10 years!
Jul 08, 2013
It has been 10 years since I had weight loss surgery. I am alive and healthy. It's not everything I hoped for but I have managed to keep @ 180 lbs off. My weight fluctuates within 30 lbs. My Dr's have been happy with the outcome and I would never take back the decision to change my life!
7 years!
May 16, 2010
7 years-time flies! The weight is actually down 15-20 lbs in the past year. The tool works-I don't always work for it! I probably need to make an appointment to visit the surgeon for my yearly check! Keeping at it a day at a time!

I haven't written anything for a LONG time! I am still glad I had the bariatric surgery. While I have gained some weight back, I am no where near I was in 2003. The reasons are the basics involved in the WLS commitment! Exercise, low carb, low fat, not enough veggies and fruits. I have put other activities in front of the support group (and enjoy them) but need to focus more intensely on the weight! I do see the nutritionist regularly and need to better apply her advice....she's awesome! I spent a month in the mountains this summer and lost almost 20 lbs....it felt great. Amazing what regular exercise and healthy food can do! I plan to return this summer and to include better habits in my daily life! Start NOW Karen!

5 year check up!
Aug 13, 2008
I had my 5 year check up in June! My "numbers" for the labs were all fine! I take a multi vitamin as well as tums. I also get a B12 shot once a month! I'm down a bit over 20 lbs from what I had gained back! I still need to work for more consistency with the exercise! I'm still thrilled to be healthier because of the RNY!
