Medicare waiting list

Alright, so it turns out that there is a waiting list for Medicare patients. I'm hoping for a surgery date in September or October. In the meanwhile, I'll continue to make slow changes in my eating habits to help me prepare for life after surgery.

paperwork done

On Monday I will turn in the last of my paperwork. That means that I'm ready to set the surgery date. Unfortunately, because of my job, there is only a one week window for each month that I would be able to have the surgery. What are the chances that it will work out for the third week of August? I'm crossing my fingers.

Support Group Meeting

I attended the support group meeting last Thursday. It was nice to meet people who have already had the surgery. They looked great! I am almost done gathering the required letters and doing the pre-op lab work. I'll probably mail all the information in at the end of this week. Getting closer . . .

I went to the seminar and heard about how I will need to go on a diet even before the surgery so that I can prove that I can follow the guidelines. So I figured, if I can follow those strict two week pre-surgery guidelines, why not just do it all on my own and skip the surgery. I had myself convinced that it was a good plan right up until I pulled into the McDonald's drive-thru the next morning. I guess I'm having the surgery after all.

Getting Started

I got the list of everything I have to do before I can have the Lap-Band surgery. Wow! It is a long list. I was kind of hoping to get the surgery done quickly before I had a chance to chicken out. I go to the seminar tomorrow night. I'll see how it goes.
