My story? Well, I'm sure it's like a lot of others out there. I was a cute, normal size kid, no weight issues and then, all of a sudden, it happened. In high school all those years of fried chicken, fried pork chops, pizza, Wendy's and McDonald's caught up with me. I found myself on my first "real" diet when I was 15. From there, it was lose 10, gain 20. Lose 20, gain 40. It seemed that I ate less food, but always gained more back. Once in my forties, I considered weight loss surgery, but my insurance didn't cover me. As time went on, not only did I gain more weight, I became more depressed. I was diagnosed with severe degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis in both knees. After years in the restaurant business and being only five feet tall and 232 pounds, my knees had finally given in. Every orthopaedic doctor I went to said "lose weight" and your knees will thank you............and they made is sound easy! So, at the ripe uoyng age of 50, with a new job and insurance company, I went to see yet another surgeon to investigate my options. I am excited to say that I went through all the pre-reqs of insurance approval..............and received my approval today! My surgery is scheduled for January 6 and I am scared but so, so, so happy!!!!!
