Here's my story: Born September 13, 1966. I have been heavy all my life. My dad was morbidly obese and diabetic. He passed away in 1996 from a massive heart attack. He was only 56 years old. When I was 18 I lost about 40 lbs. then found out I was pregnant. My weight went from 175 lbs. to about 260 lbs. I was never able to lose the weight after that. I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic when I was 16, but never had a problem until about 8 years ago. I am maxed out on oral meds and am also taking 3 injections of Insulin per day. I have been talking to my doctor about this surgery for over a year and we finally decided this was the right time to begin the process. I have a BMI of 46.9. I am at my highest weight of 287 lbs. I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine. I have tried dieting for years and lost a few pounds, but gained it all back plus more. I have tried exercise, but have herniated disks in my neck and back and have torn cartilidge in both knees. So I recently began water aerobic classes 5 days a week. In six weeks I gained 12 lbs. My dr. is trying to figure out what's going on. I don't have a whole lot of support in doing this. In fact, I've got a few people trying to talk me out of it. I am determined to do this for myself. Afterall, it's MY health and well-being that's at stake here, not anyone elses. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! =) So anyway, I love cats and I collect shot glasses from around the world. I have all 50 states, Mexico, Guam, Canada and Hawaii and several cities in the United States.
