Cake
Jun 14, 2013
ok I know this is a bad word. but I found something amazing . it's called 3,2,1 cake take 1 box of angel food cake and any flavor of sugar free cake mix . put both boxes in a large zip lock bag and mix well. then take a coffee cup and put 3 TBL spoons of cake mix and 2 TBL spoons of water and put it in the microwave and cook for 1 min. you can then put sugar free fruit or cool-whip and you have a little cake. no oil, no butter try it i'm almost 2 years out went from 272 down to 141.

Plateau buster diet
May 25, 2013
Hi Heidi, I was looking over some older posts and I see no one gave you the Plateau buster Diet. Here it is. I'm having the same issues at 4 years post-op and starting this asap. Keep me posted on how your doing. You may not even need this anymore but I wanted you to have it. Hope you have a good weekend. Take care. Julie Schneider Open RNY 8/2004 Here is the Plateau Buster Diet: Do this for 10 days to break plateau 1) DON’T GIVE UP 2) Drink 2 quarts (64 oz) of water a day 3) You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamin & mineral supplements each day. 4) You may consume up to 3 oz. of the following high-protein foods, 5 times a day: • beef • pork • chicken • turkey • lamb • fish • eggs • low-fat cheese • cottage cheese • plain yogurt or artificially sweetened • peanut butter • beans/legumes You may also have: • sugar free Popsicles • tea or coffee (BUT, Keep in mind Coffee & tea stimulates release of insulin with a temporary lift in energy followed by hunger, fatigue & slower weight loss.) • sugar free sodas • sugar free Jell-O • broths and bullions • Crystal Lite drinks 5) IF IT IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU CANNOT HAVE IT FOR 10 DAYS 6) Keep a food diary and get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. GOOD LUCK!!!
Kale recipe

With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle about a tablespoon of olive oil on the kale (I usually just spray it with my Misto), and sprinkle with salt and black pepper (light on the seasonings cuz they get stronger as the moisture leaves the kale. Bake until the edges begin to brown but are not burned (watch carefully, it can burn quickly), 10 to 15 minutes. YUM!! Think I'll go buy some too! This made my mouth water! :)
2 weeks post op
May 11, 2013
Went to friends party felt great! Even danced a little!! I was still a little sore but it felt good to get out n start to get back to life. I am now 2 weeks out n feel a little hungry. I think I just need some texture to chew on instead of jello all the time. I had a tiny bit of tuna fish and it was so yummy. I also had a shake with some vanilla yogurt in it and that was heavenly. Today I set up a lose it account so I can start tracking my intake if proteins carbs calories etc. I also have been taking my blood pressure everyday n I am in normal range I look forward to starting with some soft foods and continue with exercising. Which I haven't gotten a routine down just yet. Still a little sore and my tummy has a rash I have been treating with anti itch cream doc says its not from surgery. This weeks goal is to start walking on treadmill again every day for at least 20 min. ;))
some of my reasons for having VSG.
Apr 28, 2013
Well tomorrow is my surgery..... feeling a little apprehensive. I know these past two weeks on the opti fast i have been doing very well and feeling great. i lost about 14 lbs and can definitely see it in my face. But I also know that if I dont' have this surgery that I will easily fall back into unhealthy eating habits eventually.
The reasons I am doing this are:
I want to be healthy and live a healthy life.
I want to be able to be active with my family, especially my husband, who is very physically active.
i want to not only feel good about myself, but look good when I'm putting on clothes to go out.
I want to be able to cross my legs, bend over an tie my shoes. Walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath.
I want to look at myself in pictures and not say "who is that"?
I want to feel proud of my accomplishments.
I don't want to grow old and wake up one day 300 lbs and not be able to shower myself or have my children carry me up the stairs, out to the car, or just be a burden on them or my husband. As this is what I see with my own mom and mother in law. As I have watched the people in my family grow older I see the ones that are average weight and more physically fit, are the ones who bounce back quicker form health issues and are really more independent then others.
I don't want to feel sad, ugly and just plain FAT!
I want to spend the next part of my life, enjoying my life and not be afraid to venture out of my comfort zones.
I am facing this part of my life as a new journey. An adventure I have put ion hold as I have raised two beautifully children these past 19 years and nurtured my family and friends. I have built a wonderful life with my husband and now is the time to enjoy my life and to be the Best me I can be.
