Kelli J.
Hello Everyone...My name is Kelli. I'm a 34 year old, single mother. This past year, has been full of many losses, heartattacks and uncontrolling turns in my life. I lost my job this past March, due to ever-changing economy. I lost both my grandmother, who was my life. And also my mother!! I could go on and on, about my trials and tribulations...but to the truth is my weight has been climbing out of control for many many years. I havent been happy with it, for sometime. I've tried numerous diets on top of diets. Only to be let down, time and again. With my mother's unexpected, sudden death....she made me realize...we are on borrowed time...our day may come at any moment...my mother didnt take care of herself, she too was overweight. Also diabetic, and having heart problems to deal with. But never did, I think she would lose her life at only 65 years of age. With having this to deal with...I decided on visiting my family doctor back in july 09. Shortly after my mothers passing.. I told him I was interested in having the gastric bypass surgery. And inquired if i, in fact was a candidate for the surgery. He quickly examined me and said yes...you are a candidate. He referred me to St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The knowledge i have received over the past year has been overwhelming. Not only have a few friends of mine, successfully had the surgery. But i've had the pleasure of meeting so many new wonderful people, who happen to be in the same exact situation as I am. The surgeon and patient advocate have been wonderful from St. Vincent's. I am currently finishing up with all of the necessary appointments for clearances for my insurance approval. I am hoping that everything will be wrapped up in mid April.. And possibly have a june surgery date. Wish me luck ppl...I can use everyone's prayers. For am I experiencing such a decision by myself.
