The Remarkable K.I.M.

8/25/2006, its been about 3 weeks and 2 days and I feel great! I had an infection by my port incision, (the incision is a little bigger than the rest because this is where the lap bad device was inserted), but I was prescribed Anit-biotics by Nurse Chris Nelson, and things are great. My clothes are falling off me now and it is wonderful. I am 21 pounds lighter, and looking great. I've got 40 more lbs to go to get to my ideal weight, about 150! I haven't had a fill (adjustment) yet because I eat very little, and my band must be placed correctly, because I get full really fast. Anyone reading this, I recommend the band. It is always there to support you.

8/6/2006 Well 8/2/2006 was my big day, and things went well. The staff at Southern Surgical Hospital were very, very professional. Because I had a bad lipo suction procedure (it wasn't totally bad, but unprofessional with very slight results), done by Dr. Parry in Gretna, I initially didn't want to have another surgery in Louisiana. I generalized every doctor as being sub par to surgeons in more progressive cities like L.A., ATL, and NY. But after doing extensive research, I was satisfied with Dr. Moore and her partners. They are professional, and very knowledgeable. My surgery went swiftly, and without any complications. I thank GOD for that! I knew I was going to have a reaction to the anesthesia, because of my previous history, and that would be vomiting! This could be very problematic for lap band patients. It could cause slippage. So I threw up 2 times on the day of surgery, and 2 times the next day, but other than that, I am recovering well. Although it was difficult, I got up every hour until 11pm the night of surgery to walk about 10 minutes, and I used the breathing tool. My mom and husband have been there every step of the way! I am looking forward to exercising, and getting healthy. I look forward to my 1 week post-op, because I need to make sure I understand the protein requirements. If you are considering LAP-BAND, I recommend Dr. Moore, and if you check back with me, I'll let you know more about my journey!
7/28/2006 I am moving along fast because I'm pretty healthy at this point, and a CASH PAY!!! Today I went for Pre-op tests, nutritional class, surgery teaching class, and meet with Dr. Moore. personally just after my pre-op tests. My experience with the Surgical Specialist has been great! I will let you know in 4 days about the surgery and my experience! Wish me luck!
7/20/2006 After more research and attending a local seminar in Metairie, I was blown away by the professionalism and references for the Surgical Specialist of Louisiana. Dr. Racheal Moore in particular. She was professional, detailed, reassuring about the quality of her work. Some people are not as ready to move forward with a female surgeon, but being a successful professional myself, there are certain qualities that are undeniable. She has them.
7/15/2006 Hoping to meet with Dr. Hargroder in Baton Rouge for a consultation. Blue Cross says any WLS is excluded from my policy, so I am prepared to pay cash. Dr. Hargroder seems to have a great reputation, and his costs seem within reach, (unless there are some surprises).
I haven't always been overweight, I was my ideal size thru college, 145. But soon after starting an extremely intense business, the pounds packed on every year. Every year I would start a diet, but I never seemed to get anywhere. I am now 215, and 75lbs overweight. I've just had a beauty baby boy, who is 14 months now, and I know I've got to do something. For him, for me, for life. So I hope it works out!
