khristle
I've been overweight my entire life. Slimmed down in high school when I biked EVERYWHERE, but chunked back up once I had to join the real world and work a 40 hour week at a sit down job. I lost a good amount of weight on Atkins and through an Atkins support group I met my husband. You'd think that we would be able to support each other and keep off the weight we had lost, but that was not the case! We both gained back all of our weight plus some. Then I got pregnant and gained even more weight. After the baby, I was doing a lot of sitting and didn't lose a single "baby" pound. In January 2007 I started back on Atkins and started working on getting approved for surgery. Thankfully, I've worked in the health insurance industry, so getting approval was not a huge deal for me. By the time I had my surgery on 4/9/07 I had already lost 30 pounds! Since my surgery, I haven't lost much weight, but I've been able to keep the weight that I did lose off, and that is a pretty big accomplishment. I probably would have lost more weight during that time, but I lost insurance coverage right before my first fill, so I haven't had the follow up care that I've needed. I've had a total of 4 fills and I am restricted, but not as tight as I should be. Thankfully, I'm going to resume treatment this year, 100% of it will be out of my pocket. My husband also had the surgery (March 15th I think) so it is nice to go through this with him. It is so nice to hug him and feel how much both of our bodies have changed! I'm so thankful that we are both healthier and that we can keep up better with our TWO year old!
IN 2008 I *WILL* MAKE IT TO ONEDERLAND!
