I have been a stay at home mom since 2001, when my daughter was 1 and we moved to North Carolina. That was the beginning of my end... I noticed the clothes were fitting tighter, the scales kept creeping up. I justified it by saying that I was staying at home with my daughter, what do people expect?? We moved to Northwest Indiana in April of 2007. A new town, a better town, my daughter now went to public school... I had a lot of time on my hands and not much self confidence to do anything about it. I decided to go back to school.
It was after we moved to NWI that I began thinking seriously about Weight Loss Surgery. My grandpa had done it, I had countless friends who had done it... I just (blindly) never thought I was THAT big. Oh, boy, had I been lying to myself!!
I was denied twice before my insurance finally okayed me to have the surgery. I am currently attending the Restart center classes and hopefully will have my Roux-en-Y within the next couple of months. This story has not ended, it has only began!
