Today I had my consultation with Dr Huse. I am very impressed. His knowledge and explanation of the procedure was very easy to understand and I felt comfortable with his qualifications for this type of surgery. We met after the consultation in a one on one atmosphere. He reviewed my history and said I would be a good candidate for surgery. Lap RNY is what I am going for. I am now awaiting approval from my insurance company.

I GOT A DATE!!!!!!! 12/03/04/
My husband had surgery 1/12/04, so I pretty much know what to expect with the newly adapated lifestyle. I am excited that we did this journey together.

It's been almost 4 weeks since surgery. Everything went pretty well. I did not have to be on Lovenox nor did I have any drain tubes. I was kept in the hospital an extra day ( total 4 days ) because my hemoglobin was still very low. The doctor was talking about a possible blood transfusion if my hemoglobin remained low.
They gave me some medication for that and slowed down my I.V fluids, and that seemed to help. 12/07/04 (Tues) I was released from the hospital. I walked 3 miles while in the hospital. With all the fluids they pumped into me I was up to abt 244 lbs, as of 12/29/04 I am 208 that's a loss of 36 lbs in 4 weeks. A little over a pound a day in loss. Not too shabby.
Saw my doctor today for follow-up appt and my 1st dietician appt. The dietician said since I'm doing so well with the full liquid diet, they moved me to beyond full liquids, but the portion size is the same right now (2 oz/per meal). Usually you don't get to move up to beyond full liquids until 6 wks out. Everyone is different. I feel fine so far. My doctor's appt was very quick, he looked at my incisions said they looked good, asked if I had any questions,(My Answer:No) and that was it.

Been sick. I contracted a viral intestinal infection and then went into "deep ketosis". That was a double-dose "malatov cocktail" to my system. I had been struggling to get liquids, meals, and vitamins all in. Now I am doing much much better. Eating, drinking, and taking vitamins again. Feel like myself again.

Doing quite well. Down to 176 lbs. Size 14/16. Eating right, startng to exercise more. Taking vitamins. I am starting the hair loss phase. I am trying a shampoo called "Nioxin". Available at most salons, my dietician said that patients of hers that are hairstylists are recommending it. I'm also increasing my protein and biotin.
**June 17, 2005**
Down to 160. Only 15 lbs away from ,my goal. Although doc says 150-155 should be around my goal. Feeling great, noticing increase in hunger. Will try to fit my required 3 glasses of milk/daily to see if that helps. Eating 6 oz per meal.
Hair loss sloooooooowed down , and actually new hair is growing in...QUICKLY, I resumed taking Biotion and it jumpstarted my scalp. Have 6 month appt in 2 weeks , will update more then.

Struggling with excercise (always room for improvement there), and vitamins.
