Eric Schlesinger

"I first met Dr. Schlesinger on Dec. 2nd, 2000. I found him to be right to the point, very detailed, and yet, willing to answer all questions. He did not leave the room until your questions were answered. I was very happy that he was doing my surgery. Next time I met him was when I was in with the pre-op nurse, (surgery was Jan. 19th, 2001) and he came in and explained what was going to happen. Again, I was satisfied with how he handled things. The day after my surgery he came in to see me, and said my stomach looked great, but my lungs looked like shit. He said that I needed to breathe more on the breathalizer thing and I was sorta threatened that I might not be able to go home on Monday if I didn't work harder at that. I was kinda taken aback, but at the same time, I realize this is for my own good. He is telling me how it is, and sometimes you have to put the scare into people to make them work harder. Then I saw him on the morning I was discharged. He was friendly. To the point that I could go home and was very friendly. The office staff was excellent. The people really care about us patients and they come in there everyday and give us there all. They sure do work hard! The aftercare program is really great! You are told what to eat, what to shop for, etc. The risks of surgery are discussed the first time you meet with Dr. Schlesinger. He went over everything with me. Was very thorough. I would rate Dr. Schlesinger a 9, not a 10, because a 10 would be perfect, and no one is perfect. So, a 9. I would say that Dr. Schlesinger's surgical competence would rule over his bedside manner, because he is a very good surgeon, and that is most important. He does what he needs to do for the bedside manner. He deals with patients everyday, and so many, that he needn't go out of his way and go overboard to each and everyone of us. He does what he needs to do, what is important, and that is to get us patients the exact information that we need."
