Douglas Olsen

"I went to a very informative seminar at Centennial Medical Center in October, 2001. My insurance company (United Healthcare - Saturn) approved the procedure within a week. I had to wait three months for my initial consult with Dr Olsen. It seemed like a long time - but eventually the day of my appointment arrived. The first time I met with Dr. Olsen he explained every aspect of the procedures in detail to make sure I understood the surgery and associated risks. He even drew me pictures of the procedure and wrote down the risks to make sure I understood what I was getting myself into. Dr. Olsen, his staff and Centennial Medical Center are excellent. Dr. Olsen performed my surgery (laparoscopic gastric bypass) on March 18, 2002. The staff at the hospital took very good care of me. My biggest complaint while I was in the hospital and during the first few weeks after I came home was a backache. A couple of weeks after the surgery, my family doctor diagnosed me with a bladder infection - once treated, the backache went away. Dr. Olsen continues to check my progress through follow-up visits. He talks to me about my diet and exercise and stresses the importance of drinking enough water and going to the support groups. He is really concerned about my health and weight loss progress and he wants to make sure I get all the benefit I can from the surgery. I'm thankful every day because I was able to have the surgery and because Dr. Olsen was my surgeon. I don't think I could have been in better hands."
