I am the firstborn of 3 kids.  I have a younger sister and brother. From the time we could walk we played every sport imaginable. My mom was very active in every single thing we did. Mostly sports. I could not imagine life without them. Basketball, Softball, Soccer, Track, Gymnastics,  Always, always active.
My mom cooked home cooked meals all the time. Chicken fried steaks, pork chops, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, etc. I dont think I even knew what broccoli and cauliflower were until I was almost grown. Meat and potatoes - which was fine as long as we were active.
I have always been the tall girl. In 6th grade I was already 5'7.  So being called "big" was not such an insult then. I did not even realize they could be talking about my weight. But I have some big thighs. After middle school, I quit playing sports altogether and all those overeating of home cooked meals came home to roost.  I still really didnt realize it. I was 165 in high school and 5'9. I had a small upper body but from the hips down I carried a lot.
After I graduated high school, it never entered my mind to go to college. Why? I don't know. I was pretty smart. I liked school but I really wanted a baby. So at 19, I had my one and only child. Ashleigh. During my pregnancy I gained 60+ pounds.
I decided not to stay with her dad so at 6 weeks we were pretty much on our own. I had lots of family but I mean it was me and her.
I hate to cook. Growing up, Ashleigh probably had very few home cooked meals. I think she grew up at McDonalds and Taco Bell.  Ramen noodles with butter and cheese. The essentials, right?
Then my little sister who has never been very big decided we should try Nutri-System. It worked pretty good. I think I lost about 60 pounds. After I left Nutri and had to eat on my own. Here the pounds come creeping back on.
I met a new guy and after awhile we moved in together. Okay Mr. Lazy Never Has a Job stuck around for 5 years. Now the only thing about him I really liked was he cooked dinner all the time.  I just gained more and more weight. I was probably about 250 or so by then.
About 6 months after our break up, I met my now-husband Travis.  Ashleigh was 8 by then and in the 3rd grade. I met him online. I seriously did not think anything would come of it. I mean who has ever heard of meeting people online (1996). He was in Austin. I was in Houston. He was quite a bit younger than me too. I was 27 and he was 20.
He decided to move to Houston. Great!
He lived in Houston with us for a few months and then I came to Austin to meet his family. I fell in love with Austin. We moved to Austin in Feb.
I was really happy for the first time in a long time. But I still continued to eat. I would feel ashamed and try to diet -Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem again, Atkins, every diet you can think of. I would lose a little and gain that and 5 more back.
My husband eats very healthy and is very fit. He spends A LOT of time at the gym. A lot!  He is very supportive but I get aggravated sometimes because he has never been overweight and has no idea what it feels like.
Now I am 40. I have to stop doing this. I have to make a change so I can live to see 50 and 60, I want to be able to live to see my grandchildren. I want to be able to play with my grandchildren.  I am ready and determined to do this.

I have a good life, good job and I am happy but I need to be healthy too.

So have I bored you enough?
