Hi friends!  Let me breifly tell you my story.  I am a 29 year old professional.  I taught for 3 years and now work for an educational company.  I am a college graduate, and generally excell at everything I try.  Except loosing weight.  Not that I haven't tried mind you, it just never stuck.  So about 3 years ago I went to a seminar to hear a doctor speak about bypass surgery and felt as though there might actually be a light at the end of my hopelessly long tunnel.  Well my then current insurance assured me that there was no light at that time.  Well the next year brought on a job change so I checked with them to find out if it was covered and sure enough it was (if you jumped through a few hoops).  So jump I did and documented everything along the way.  Well the first surgeon didn't work out so I visited a few others and settled on Dr. Barker who had a great record from what I could tell and a much better bedside manner.  My surgery date was set (5/4/07) and I was terrified.  I had never had surgery before in my life.  The most invasive thing I had ever done was donate plasma (sometimes you need cash in college).  The surgery basically went off without a hitch.  The only problem I experienced was a rather alarming spike in blood pressure.  I had never had high blood pressure before (an annomoly I know) and after about a week on this patch they stuck on my shoulder it returned to normal.

I am currently 6-weeks post-op and down almost 40 pounds.  Here's hoping this rate continues.  Good luck to you all and many blessings!
