Almost 4 weeks and Counting
Apr 10, 2009
Well, I know it has been a long while since my post soooo... I have alot to say. I am FINALLY on food...wonderful food. It has been so long and really ruff for me on protein drinks. I just could not get the protein drinks to work for me, but Dr. O kept saying (well him thru his NUT), don't worry you can leave and breath for a few weeks without protein..but keep drinking the liquids. I have had no trouble with the liquids. So that is what I did. Just drank and got in only about 40g of protein a day.
Blended stage: What can I say about that...UGH. It was better than all liquid. I basically lived on eggs. I like them still..thank goodness. I did eat some tuna, that was pretty good too...BUT fish...OMGosh...can't take the smell, and I have tried a few different types. Smells are still really getting to me. Most things smell very gross to me. So during this stage I actually got most of my 60g protein in daily.
Food Stage: LOVE IT...last night I had turkey tacos with my hubby and kids. Well I had taco flavored turkey meat. But to me it was just like I was eating tacos with them. I felt NORMAL again.
Vitamins: Well, I am doing great on vitamins, except for Calcium. I just can't find one I like (three times a day for the rest of my live....I wanna like it). Most that seem good, like the chewable, the NUT says is not good enough. Keep looking. So that is what I am doing. Still looking and taking one NUT don't really like, but it is from Bariactric Advantage (the new chewable choc ones).
I am back to work, went back on Monday. Drive a school bus so I have managed to do pretty good, EXCEPT when I took 1st graders on a trip. When I told the teachers I could not load and unload their coolers due to recent surgery they seemed alittle upset, but they did it themselves and I got no complaints from my boss, Yet. But they know my restrictions in the office and I still get trips sooo you would think they would back me up on this.
Well I guess that kinda catches me up...Go to the Dr. on Thursday the 16Th sooo. I will update again then.
Good luck to us all...

First Follow Up Appt With Dr....
Mar 27, 2009
Well yesterday was my first follow-up visit since my WLS. I was nervous about getting out and the trip (I had not left the house yet). I have to go about 1 1/2 hours to get to the doctors. But it was not as bad as I thought it would be.
I have lost 25 pounds...Whoo-Hooo
Their office is great. I love it there. Dr. Olsen was terrific. He said everything was looking and going great. I don't go back to see him until 3 weeks (my one month out).
I got to see the Nut..Pam. I really like her. She is very friendly. But seeing her didn't seem to important at this time (I guess just to make sure I knew not to do anything wrong). Don't get me wrong, I am not fussing at all..but...all I got from her was NO.NO.NO. about everything I asked. Of course they upped me to Stage 2. But that meant like nothing other than like the addition of 2 different protein drinks. I don't completely understand how some people get to have sooo many different things than I do. I know Dr. Olsen is VERY strict. And he is VERY successful with his surgeries. But still it just sucks. Now I am on Stage 2 for 7 days then I get to advance to Stage 3.
Oh, I did see the exercise guru. Got the green light to do all the cardio that I can take. I am really looking forward to going back to the YMCA. I know I will have to take my time and work back up to where I was before surgery, but I still sooo look forward to feeling normal again.
All in all I was out around 8 hours yesterday..(shopped for my new protein, got kids real food to eat, and my travel time). But I still got all my protein in and water too. I was sooo proud of myself.
I am ready to go back to work (that will be Monday). That will make me feel more normal too.
Well that's it for now...I am finally enjoying my choice...(After the Rain comes Rainbows)

Can't Wait
Jan 24, 2009
Well, I can't wait...I am excited but very scarred at the same time. I guess that is what everyone goes through. Surgery (RNY) is on march 16, 2009. I have to wait till spring break (I'm a school bus driver). Current weight is 228. I am not worried about my lifestyle changes as much as I am about what I have to go through to get there (the surgery). That may sound stupid but I'm a baby..easily worried about everything. My family..husband, mom, kids...they are all behind me in my choices so that helps. I JUST CAN'T WAIT....
