I have no more leak....drain was removed Jan 15, 2009. I am 15 pounds from losing 100. I would do this surgery over again even knowing the problems that I experienced. From the leak and CT they did to find the leak my colon and ovaries lit up. Both have been taken care of and NO CANCER. I thank GOD daily for everything that I have been through. I wouldn't have gotten a colonoscopy until I was 50. I believe I have had the huge masses for several years and they have gone undetected. My sleeve has saved my life in many ways.
No more diabetic meds for me, nor high blood pressure. I feel better then I have in 8 years. I still have a ways to go, but I know that I will continue to stick to the rules and loving every minute of it. I'm in control and loving it.
Thank you Dr James Foote for your talent as a surgeon. Thank you God for allowing me the priviledge to have the surgery and experience the hicups along the way for they have made me truly appreciate the gift in the most unusual way possible.
This journey has been heaven sent.

Well last monday my hubby brought me into ER, I have a leak. Now it's Nov 11, 2008 and I'm still here with a drain, and NUT going in my body via PICC and NPO. I have a positive attitude, sometimes I feel discouaged, but I still love my sleeve and see this as a hiccup that I will get over, recover and stay at the task at hand.

THE SURGERY
Sep 29, 2008
My surgery was Sept 24, 2008. Everything went smooth as silk. I was up within 1 hour getting to my room to use the bathroom (no catheter) and followed the rules, walk, drink, rest, spirometer and repeat over and over. The staff was super supportive and helpful. My hubby was staying in a hospitality room 1 floor down and supported me every step of the way. I had no nausea or vomiting just pain and gas. Dr Foote had a conference that he left for soon after my surgery, which I was well aware of ahead of time, so I saw his partner for the rest of my stay in the hospital. The Journey continues....
THE JOURNEY

I decided to look into surgery June 25. I'm having surgery Sept 24 and starting my new journey in life on 9-11-08 by beginning my pre-op liquid diet. I am excited. I hope to SHRINK my liver and feel not so bloated by the time surgery date comes.
